EXCLUSIVE: Kelly called Comey to express anger over firing, sources say
Source: CNN
New White House chief of staff John Kelly was so upset with how President Donald Trump handled the firing of FBI Director James Comey that Kelly called Comey afterward and said he was considering resigning, according to two sources familiar with a conversation between Kelly and Comey.
Both sources cautioned that it was unclear how serious Kelly, then the secretary of homeland security, was about resigning himself. "John was angry and hurt by what he saw and the way (Comey) was treated," one of the sources said. Comey learned of his dismissal on May 9 from televisions tuned to the news as he was addressing the workforce at the FBI office in Los Angeles, law enforcement sources said at the time. Comey made a joke about it to lighten the mood and called his office to get confirmation. 5. When they say "exclusive" I wonder who declined to run it and why...
They seem to be leaking these palace intrigue stories out to keep us distracted.

14. But it does make Trump look like he can't judge who will always defer to him
which is likely to annoy Trump.

15. I don't think anyone except those complicit cabinet members who are mixed up
In trying to help hide the money laundering and or Exxon to go along with all his craziness. People are going to ruin their careers if they do. This is a small thing- possibly being upset and expressing it? It's kind of meaningless. That's all I am saying.

6. More importantly (at least to me), who will replace Kelly as head of DHS?
I keep wondering if Trump wanted Kelly out of DHS. Perhaps Kelly would be too harsh on Vladimir????

8. A 'firing' is a smirch on anyone's name.
The idea of having an honorable, respected history as a public servant destroyed by an impulsive sociopath has to concern every single person who serves at 'the pleasure of the president.'
If 'the staff' doesn't fix this - there won't be anyone crazy enough to work for the White House. I can't imagine who leaked the story - but now that The Mooch is gone, who's left to care? |

9. Kelly's a turd, just like the rest of the Trump bunch.
All you have to do is look at what the Department of Homeland Secrity has done under his leadership....heartless and cruel deportations, not to mention the lack of leadership with regard to the travel ban.

16. There was a story out recently about dinners the transition team was having w GOP
Memebers under the guise of talking policy. And it became apparent to those invited he was just trying to pick up more supporters and campaign surrogates as they weren't interested in advice or policy discussions at all. For some reason a big part of it was acquiring "generals" to be on his side. So it's been a thing for a while. Wish I could find the link, but it was what you'd expect- weird meetings w a pretext.

18. trump waved that list of generals around about march?was a 'we love trump letter' & 20 signed names.
trump thought the 'love letter from Generals' dropped from the sky because he was so wonderful.
Obvious that letter came from some Republican insider group, they're very good at manipulating people like trump. I think Manafort 'dropped from the sky' about the same time and perhaps brought in by the same group of Republicans. |

24. He always tips his hand before he has he cards- like when he said he has dirt on Mueller or Hillary.
In both cases he said that before he sent a team of jackals to try and get dirt on Mueller, seems like Russia promised him more on HRC than they had too. People seem to be overpromising him these things and he just goes with it. I think the transition team meetings I read about were in July- so months after waving around that list, he's trying to make it so.

20. Probably something Vlad suggested.
Get the military working for you to solidify your power.
Thing is, it helps to have the military on your side at the get-go. And there is only so much bullshit that even they will tolerate. I seem to recall that the Roman Emperor Caligula made a mistake kind of like that.. |

17. I'm not used to the name Kelly yet
and keep thinking of Kellyanne Conway when I see it.
About the article (thanks for posting it, by the way), if John Kelly was upset enough over Comey's firing that he himself was thinking of resigning, why would Kelly accept the chief of staff job under trump, who has since become notorious as a serial firer? |
