During an interview on Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd noted that Republicans in the Senate had held no hearings on their health care bill and so they could not say for sure why insurance companies were abandoning some markets.
Johnson sidestepped the refusal to hold hearings and insisted that he already knows the answer but nobody wants to talk about it.
The Wisconsin Republican pointed to Obamacare rules that forbid insurance companies from charging more for people with preexisting conditions.
We know why those premiums doubled, he opined. Weve done something with our health care system that you would never think about doing, for example, with auto insurance, where you would require auto insurance companies to sell a policy to somebody after they crash their car.

Sen Johnson is a cruel man. He is well off and does not know the meaning of not being able to afford health insurance. Human beings are not cars!! Stupid man!! Shame on him.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) suggested on Sunday that people with pre-existing conditions deserved to pay more for insurance because they were like cars that had been involved in an automobile accident.

I don't know what I'm more embarrassed about- Johnson beating Feingold, twice, or electing Scott Kevin Walker three times.

(5,751 posts)and now the Republican legislature finally stopped the Brownback agenda. Maybe there's hope in Wisconsin.
Still In Wisconsin
(4,450 posts)the only real hope in the short run is Republicans actually governing in such a way as to (at least try to) help people in this state.
Long term, the party apparatus needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Way too much entrenched "old guard" who are way more concerned with their position in the party than actually reversing our ten-year losing streak to the Repubs.

(153,122 posts)people with pre-existing conditions CANNOT AFFORD INSURANCE when private insurance have their way - even if they can afford it one year, the companies HIKE THE PREMIUMS until they are FORCED OUT
WHAT DO REPUKES THINK PEOPLE WHO CANNOT GET HEALTH INSURANCE NEED TO DO?
the answer is pretty obvious, they can either DIE or "USE THE EMERGENCY ROOM", like pre-ACA
THESE REPUKE BASTARDS DO NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT PEOPLE, AND THEY HAVE THE UTTER GALL TO CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS

I can't get a license plate to put on my car unless I have insurance ass****, and I have to prove that I have it, or I can't drive the car, and if I do drive the car without insurance ass**** and have an accident, I could lose my house, my paycheck, and I can go to f**** jail.
Is that rock between your ears, just to hold up a piss ant, making an ass out of himself, apparently so
So you think in your esteem logic of sh*t, that people with disabilities and such, are like cars
and as for f***ing premium doubling ass****.
Do you remember voting on a budget bill that had a rider placed in there by your f***ing right wing f****ing buddy, that lives in Florida buying boats Marco Rubio, when he put a "RIDER" in the budget the bill to f***k taxpayers out having the government subsidize health insurance.
All you have to do there sunshine is type it in google: (Rubio and Budget Rider to attack Obamacare), if you don't or can't understand it, get one of your lackey staff members, that can read to explain it to you.
And since old Toodles didn't ask you that f***king question he is just about as worthless as you are, just so that he could have had to remind the television audience of the "WHY" this country is turning into a sh*t hole, is because of that RIDER on health insurance
We know why those premiums doubled, he opined. Weve done something with our health care system that you would never think about doing, for example, with auto insurance, where you would require auto insurance companies to sell a policy to somebody after they crash their car.

(10,301 posts)How many cars can you buy that are a) brand new, b) already crashed during manufacture, c) required you to take possession of said wrecked car and d) required you to make repairs before you could use said vehicle? That's the closest to being born with a pre-existing condition I can think of.
Also continuing along this line: the ACA requires everyone to have health insurance. It's replacements strip away this requirement. It's a bit like legalising people to drive without auto insurance.

(16,067 posts)Johnson is a cruel man, who was elected by people just as cruel if not worse!
But the irony here is that some of those people have pre-existing conditions or they know someone who does...and they'll get a bite of the same shit sandwich that they believed was meant for others!!!
I feel no empathy for people who voted for Johnson...I just hope they go quietly!!!
