NSA Report Hints Russia May Have Hacked Voting System
Source: MSN/Newsweek
Russian Military Intelligence attempted to cyberattack a U.S. voting software supplier and more than 100 local election officials in the days leading up to the 2016 presidential election, The Intercept reported Monday. According to an NSA document acquired by the Intercept, Russian Military Intelligence cyberattacked a U.S. voting software supplier, using information gained in that attack to “launch a voter registration-themed spear-phishing campaign targeting U.S. local government organizations.” The NSA document did not reach a conclusion on if the interference had any impact on the outcome of the election. While there’s no indication in the report that voting machines or the result of the election was tampered with, it is the first report of its type that raises serious questions that Russian hackers attempted to breach the voting system. The report comes amid the growing scandal regarding investigations into President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian attempts to influence the result of the election. Although the intelligence community has reached the conclusion that Russia did try to influence the results of the election in Trump’s favor, the president has called the ongoing investigation a “witch hunt.” Read more: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/nsa-report-hints-russia-may-have-hacked-voting-system/ar-BBC6KJh

6. Something Strange On Election Night
I think it was the Detroit Free Press had predicted Hillary would win Michigan.they had sampled 80% of the precincts and said she would win by 4 points.how could they have gotten it so wrong?

10. They called Michigan for Hillary.
Of course, there were also actual problems with Detroit's physical voting machines - the state wouldn't provide proper funding.

11. You F'n Think!!??
Trump wins just barely enough in all teh F'n swing states to win EC. AND NO backup paper ballots for verification!!?? Seems odd that pre election polls and exit polls were accurate before Deibold type paperless verification ballots came along.

13. Yep. I never did think that he really won, you know. Just my opinion.
My opinion wasn't sour grapes. It was based on having been alive long enough to witness a number of Presidential elections, and as a political junkie who was reading everything, there were almost no indications he would, from reliable sources. It was possible. But not likely. I also knew it wouldn't take that much to rig it. Just a little hacking in key counties in certain states.
I also got a feeling from something Trump said on the campaign stage in Pennsylvania. I remember thinking at the time, "That sounds as if Pennsylvania is fixed, because there is no data at all to indicate he'll win PA." He ended his speech by saying that if he didn't win Pennsylvania, then "THE ELECTION IS RIGGED!" Remember when he started saying that shortly before the election? I thought at the time that he was saying that so that the Democrats would be viewed suspiciously if they said it, if the election were in fact rigged for Trump. (That's also a known Russian trick...to rig an election, but claim throughout that the OTHER side is going to rig the election.) But we in the country weren't allowed to have the conversation and discuss it. That was all shut down. It's possible he legitimately won. But I didn't think likely. This also explains his obsession over trying to prove "the people" overwhelmingly voted for him, which they didn't. |

40. Except for the fact that she only further confirmed something already reported:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/fbi-is-investigating-foreign-hacks-of-state-election-systems/2016/08/29/6e758ff4-6e00-11e6-8365-b19e428a975e_story.html
and the fact that she did it in the most haphazard and clumsy manner possible, and in doing so she announced to the world (specifically Russia) exactly how much is known about Russian involvement, how we came about that information, and how far the investigation has advanced... Winner has arguably hurt us more than she's helped... |

25. I'm beginning to think you've been right all along...
...of course, about the Trump-Russia axis; that's been obvious to idiots from the start. But about the vote-rigging, and the idea that the election was literally stolen. One has an obvious reluctance to believe this; we like to think we're a democracy. But the circumstantial evidence has been piling up, and the arguments of the scoffers somehow haven't rung true, at least for me. I think now that there's been a little of this going on for a long time, and 2016 was the coup de grace...

27. I have been, but I wish I weren't
when you consider that this would NOT have taken a huge, thousand person, hack every machine, everybody's in it, scheme, but something more 'surgical', combined with what they have already been caught doing, it is FOOLISH, no, it's FUCKING STUPID to think they would have stopped with voting equipment.
*Nope* This shit happened down ballot too, and truth *will* out. |

38. Why do we "have" to have electronic voting
the election does not have to be "certified" until Dec 20.
You mean to tell me that this "country" can't hand count ballots and use a paper and pen. I forget voting should be a for profit operation |

35. Is this the same hacking " spear-phishing" "attempt" the Obama Admin. reported on?
or another one recently revealed? The last 6 months of questions and answers in white house.govobama archives has those questions about a state/local hacking attempt during early primary and answers.
The 90,000 BLANK ballots reported in Detroit always perplexed me. I don't understand why 90k ballots would be carefully filled out and only the president choice left blank. |

36. There is no indication
Here's what the article says: "While there’s no indication in the report that voting machines or the result of the election was tampered with, it is the first report of its type that raises serious questions that Russian hackers attempted to breach the voting system."
OF COURSE THERE'S NO INDICATION!?!? How can there be any indication if there is no verification? Actually there's been indication of the tilting of the vote for a decade and a half now. But if there is no official verification process, then the only way to check the results is to statistically compare the exit poll results to the presumed results shown by the computer read-outs and when that is done in almost every case it is tilted right. |
