First Republican raises impeachment for Trump

Source: The Hill

BY CRISTINA MARCOS - 05/17/17 10:21 AM EDT

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Wednesday said reports that President Trump pressed ousted FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation would merit impeachment if true, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to broach the idea.

The New York Times on Tuesday reported that Trump tried to pressure Comey to stop investigating former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing a memo written by Comey.

Asked by The Hill if the details in the memo would merit impeachment if they're true, Amash replied: "Yes. But everybody gets a fair trial in this country," Amash added as he left a House GOP conference meeting.

Asked by another reporter whether he trusted Comey's word or Trump's, Amash said: "I think it's pretty clear I have more confidence in Director Comey."

1. He is going to be the first of many

Very soon the only republicans that will still support Trumo will be the ones
who worked the Russians or Russian supplied data in the last elections.

5. Both McConnell and Ryan were involved with this Russian/Turmp coup too.

God only knows how wide and deep this corruption goes. Ryan is in a
CYA mood right now.

How did McConnell know if he waited until after the election he would have
somebody else to vote for for SCOTUS?

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10028671176 (NY Times Article)

Paul Ryan & Republican Establishment Used Hacked Info From Russia Against Democrats:

Let's not forget that a super PAC tied to Paul Ryan used material provided by Russia's hacking of the DNC and DCCC.

It was known that Russia had stolen material from the DNC and DCCC and a Paul Ryan Super PAC and as well as other Republican groups used it.

It wasn't just Hillary Clinton being attacked. It wasn't just Trump benefiting. There's potentially more collusion than just that between Trump's team and Russia.

17. Remember it wasn't just Russia. It was massive voter suppression- Interstate Crosscheck

purged hundreds of thousands from voter reg databases. That has been in the works for a long time. Thirty states now using it. Not to mention the various other voter suppression techniques they are so good at. And issues with voting machines. I also believe that McConnell knew he had the election in the bag and that is why he wouldn't give Garland a chance.

19. Thanks for that link

I wonder if the FBI ever investigated the fact that:
"a super PAC tied to Paul Ryan used material provided by Russia's hacking of the DNC & DCCC"?

(When James Comey testifies, he should be asked about this, imo)

16. Or end up like Paul Wellstone,

who died in a very suspicious plane crash in 2002, only days after being "threatened" by Dick Cheney.

An organization has been founded to carry on the work of Paul & Sheila Wellstone:
"We arm progressives with the strategies and skills to win.
We develop political leaders."

7. All Republicans need to do is insert the name Hillary into any Trump story and ask themselves

if they would want to impeach her. If they do that, I expect all would be on board immediately.

9. McCain said this is "Watergate territory."

Of course, with McCain, we need to wait until tomorrow to see if he contradicts himself with something completely different.

10. Justin Amash is Arab-American, soon to be thrown under the bus

Conservatives don't like it when one of their own turns on the GOP. I would bet that he'll soon be receiving death threats for his Arab lineage.

11. Why?

Amash is an independent repub. Do you know his district? Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek to name a few cities in his district. He's been in office since 2010.

13. I lived in his district until last June when I moved to MI-08 to be near my sweetie, and Amash

isn't just an "Independent Republican." He's a right wing nut case pseudo-Libertarian of the Ron Paul ilk who would be just fine with the elimination of such departments & offices like the EPA, USDA, FDA because "the market" would correct any problems caused by poisoning people with tainted meat & bad drugs, poisoned groundwater, soil, & air. He was against the first AHCA because it wasn't mean-spirited enough, but voted for the second version that took all of the pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps, and essential services protections. He wants a complete "hands off" policy where money is concerned, but has no problem telling women what to do with our bodies, so he gets no kudos from me. BTW, Mike Bishop, my current "rep" is just an asshole GOP lackey.

22. Rep Debbie Dingell

I live in the 12th District and have the wonderful (as her husband says) Debbie Dingell. She is there fighting for us 24/7. As for Amash, it will depend on how his district feels about him in 2018 & who will the Dems run.

14. He is my Congressman.

He's a sane Tea Partier. He's wrong on nearly every policy, but he cares about his country and has honor.

He's a high profile guy right now. This is huge news.
