1. And for your years of Clinton hatred - a special reward for you, Director Comey!

This is going to get really interesting really quickly.

CNN has a header so far, no other details.

2. This is exactly like Nixon's firing of Attorney General Elliot Richardson and........

......Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus.

This will backfire "bigly".

5. That sure as hell didn't do Nixon any good in the long run.

Too bad the current deputy attorney general didn't have the stones that Richardson and Ruckelshaus had.

18. Not "exactly" at all.

Comey shouldn't just be fired, but there should be an independent investigation into whether his actions were a sufficient breach of policy to warrant more severe penalties.

That Trump's personal motives for removing him may not match the reported justification is a whole 'nother matter.

8. So Trump fired the guy who got him elected?

This is not a massacre.

Obama never should have appointed him.

14. NYT's headline of how Watergate played out

this eerily similar to the dystopia going on right now in the WH - a house of cards threatening to collapse.

Load of crap. Chump decided to fire Comey and his flunkies created a paper trail. Sessions should not have been commenting on this at all.

16. Trumpf did this because of the Russian investigations.

I had some problems with Comey, but I thought give the guy a chance. This was done entirely because of the Russian investigations. It's time for Americans to be protesting Trump and for him to resign.

19. "conceal"

I had problems with Comey before, but his recent deceitful testimony characterizing his only choices as "speak" or "conceal" was beyond the pale. Rosenstein's letter, posted above, provides an excellent response...

"Conceal" is a loaded term that misstates the issue. When federal agents and prosecutors quietly open a criminal investigation, we are not concealing anything; we are simply following the longstanding policy that we refrain from publicizing non-public information. In that context, silence is not concealment.

Rosenstein's entire letter should be reviewed, as it provides excellent justification for Comey's removal, at a minimum.

p.s. I accept that Trump's motives may not match the detailed points offered in the letter; that doesn't mean Comey shouldn't be removed... or investigated.
