GOP lawmakers wouldnt come to a town hall so voters brought literal empty suits

Source: MSN/Washington Post

In the past two months, Republican lawmakers who have dared to brave town halls have been upbraided, booed and yelled at over policy decisions, Cabinet votes or even just the fact that they share a party affiliation with a polarizing president. Some legislators are taking a simple lesson from the shouting: You can’t get booed if you don’t show up.

Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (R-Tenn.) has rejected calls to host a town hall, saying in a letter that he doesn’t want to give “more publicity to those on the far left who have so much hatred, anger and frustration in them.”

And voters in Lexington, Ky., have been clamoring for the state’s congressional representatives — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Garland “Andy” Barr — to tackle constituents’ questions in person. They even booked a venue for Saturday and hand-delivered town hall invites to the politicians’ offices.

The legislators were a no-show, but that didn’t stop things. Instead of McConnell, Paul and Barr, organizers propped up three mannequins wearing suits.

1. So...

when constituents were more disengaged, passively letting the pukes impose their paymasters' agenda, that was just hunky dory.

Now that voters are showing up and behaving like citizens, the pukes can't handle it.

2. Like any real part of democracy, GOP congresscritters really can't handle it.

Least of anything that annoys their pimps and johns.

3. This is the time for Democrats to have many town halls, to show that both parties are not the same.

13. Apparently Duncan Hates Democracy

First, he has no proof that the protestors are all from the far left. Second, even if true, they're still voters so this is how democracy works.

But, he doesn't want to talk to the people because "uncomfortable". So, he clearly hates democracy.

14. Texas

Sessions (not the little gnome) held a town hall, with strictly gop voters invited. Special invitations were mailed, so no dems. could attend. It turned out to be very noisy. These protesters are their own constituents, and the gop is too dumb to accept that. I hope these unhappy people remember this, and turn out in droves for the next two elections. Get rid of the deadwood. Most have been in their cushy jobs too long.
