Conway names Trump's 4 likely secretary of state picks

Kellyanne Conway identified the four candidates on President-elect Donald Trump’s short list for secretary of state Friday.

Trump’s transition team said the president-elect had whittled his list down to four this week but refused to highlight which candidates were in contention outside of the two most public names: 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

“We publicly have said there are probably four people right now that have been the narrowed down choices,” Conway, a senior adviser to the president-elect, told Fox News. “That includes Gen. [David] Petraeus and Sen. Bob Corker from Tennessee. Obviously, Governor Romney’s still in the mix. People have been talking about Mayor Giuliani.”

Trump suggested in a Fox News interview with Ainsley Earhardt broadcast earlier Friday that “almost all” of his Cabinet picks will be revealed next week. But Conway said the decision “can’t be rushed.”

There are unconfirmed reports that both David Duke and Charles Manson are devastated to not be included on the list.

26. It is true that "people have been talking about Giuliana"

People have been talking about him for quite a while. And most of it is not good.

8. Tiffany is out! How come?

What's with that?

Frankly, she seemed awfully happy last vid I saw of her. Laughing it up while standing on stage. Maybe a little too happy, given the circumstance of standing there.

3. What a shit pile that is!

Every one of them would be totally and irredeemably horrible at the job. Could he have found a worse list of people to choose from?
There is not one thing good I expect of this administration. I said the same thing about GW and was right, all of his policies were totally bad for the working class, bad for America. However he occasionally did the right thing, like when he went to the mosque after 9/11. Drumpf will be far worse, both domestically and internationally though I don't know if he will stage another false flag disaster like 9/11 or haul more troops over the middle east (to help his friends the Russians at America's expense?).

4. He could have found a worse list. John Bolton was rumored at one point

I think Corker would be relatively ok. Not someone a Democrat would appoint, of course.

5. Is Bolton much different than Guiliani?

They seem much the same to me, angry white necons who love war and despise the working class.

10. Bolton is a worst-case scenario for Giuliani.

Giuliani's venal corruption might moderate his stances on things. Bolton is a true-believer psychotic.

16. John Bolton would have been better than Giuliani

He would have been an utter warmongering disaster, and Rudy will be worse.

Sad to say, the least offensive one on the list is David Petraeus. (Forget the "but he's on probation!" thing - Trump would just pardon him and he'd go on his merry way.) He isn't great - in fact, he borders on rotten. He can't keep his dick in his pants and he's got a conviction for mishandling classified information...so there would be a more-than-slight hypocrisy problem there since one of the things Trump attacked Hillary for during the primaries was her purported mishandling of classified information. OTOH, Petraeus has a doctorate in International Relations and was a four-star general so, at least on paper, he's the only one of the bunch who's actually qualified for the job.

18. Bolton is the very worst name I could think of for the job

I'd be fine with Romney or Corker, they are at least civil adults. Bolton, Rudy, the Exxon fellas....I know it's easy to say everyone is terrible, and obviously nobody he's going to pick is ideal but I think there's a clear difference between Romney/Corker and the rest of those guys.

Petraeus would be the single most hypocritical choice of all time considering everything Trump said about Hillary!

13. This is all about

humiliating Mitt Romney. He was never going to be picked - so this is part of the ongoing humiliation of Mitt.

Trump has been picking lots of ex-military people with extreme views.

I remember someone said that Trump is a 'clear and present danger to the US' - and I believe some of us will live to regret the results of this election.

15. Yes it is. He's dangling Mittens, trying to make us think he's seriously considering

semi-reasonable people. Since Mittens sold his soul, he's not remotely reasonable in my book. He should have told the Trump people to get lost: "I have not changed my opinions about Mr. Trump."

Trump: "He was begging for my endorsement. I could have said, 'Mitt, drop to your knees.' He would have dropped to his knees. (This past March, talking about the 2012 election.)
