Donald Trump is Finally Outspending Hillary Clinton on TV Ads

Source: Bloomberg

For the first time this cycle, Donald Trump is outspending Hillary Clinton on television advertising: he’s spending $14.4 million to her $13.9 million during the week beginning Oct. 18. (On average, Clinton has spent $9.1 million per week since the last primary election on June 14, compared to Donald Trump’s $3 million per week.) Still, the decrease in overall ad spending this cycle when compared to the last presidential election is stunning: Factoring in advertising by all outside groups, there’s been roughly $450 million spent on general election TV advertising; four years ago, the total amount spent was more than twice that.

Donald Trump has increased spending in nine states, including by $1 million in Florida, as compared to the week starting October 11. There were also substantial spending increases—more than $300,000—in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The week starting October 18 also marks Trump’s return to Virginia, with a $784,000 buy, after a five-week break in the state.

Hillary Clinton has made good on her campaign’s promise of aggressively competing in Arizona, pumping $812,000 of ad spending into the state during the week starting October 18, with an additional $1.1 million earmarked for the final stretch.

It’s also notable that her campaign has made a small buy in Texas ($40,000)—specifically in the Austin, Dallas-Ft.Worth, Houston and San Antonio markets—and a $71,000 buy in Maine’s Second Congressional District.

...his higher dollar investment this late gets him far fewer ad runs; Clinton bought more air time early on when it was cheaper.

wash the money through one of his Media Companies. His campaign has relied on free exposure from the Network Media, and appears he is washing donations through his Companies at the expense of Rethug donors. One has to ask,are these Ad buys on credit,if they are, forget about it,see you in Bankruptcy Court after November 8th.

need to spend a lot of money on ads because the cable news outlets were giving him airtime for free. Now that they are not giving him 24/7 coverage he needs those ads to stay in the limelight.
