New poll: Trump lead shrinks in Texas, within margin of error

Source: WFAA

DALLAS - After perhaps the most damaging week of his campaign, Donald Trump’s lead in Texas has slipped to four percentage points – within the margin of error – according to a new poll released Thursday night.

The survey, commissioned by WFAA-TV and Texas TEGNA television stations, shows Trump leading Hillary Clinton by 47 percent to 43 percent. The margin of error is four percent.

"It pretty consistently shows that Trump is struggling in Texas more than a Republican typically would,” Wilson added. “He's still highly likely to win the state in the end but we typically see double digit margins for Republican candidates and Trump seems unlikely to produce that.

For perspective, Mitt Romney won Texas by 16 points in 2012, John McCain won this state by 13 points in 2008, George W. Bush carried his home state by 23 points in 2004, and 22 points in 2000 when he was elected to his first term.

1. A little campaigning down there and she just might pull it off.

I am guessing a lot of Rethugs are defecting to Johnson.

43. Why? Dallas is blue

And save your JFK assassination shit. I might as well say she should avoid DC because there's been two presidential assassinations there.

44. JFK was assassinated in Dallas. I don't want Hillary to be assassinated, and there are people out

there who want to do it; Trump is advocating for it.

So I'll put it this way: "Let's advocate for Hillary to be safe from assassination wherever she goes."

Sorry, but John Kennedy's assassination in Dallas is still sending shock waves through my life. If you think that's "shit," you're perfectly welcome to your opinion.

29. I think The Latino and women votes are helping, too.

Trump has driven away Latinos from the GOP for at least a generation and his misogyny and that of his Alt-Right Fascist supporters is making women even more Dem-leaning than they already were.

That state gives me the creeps; and I live in Georgia. I was living in Austin TX the day Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. What a horrific day that was.

are made up of a very large percentage of northern transplants (native Buckeye here). Texas has been trending purple, this might push it over the edge.

9. Our Republican Christian cousin in San Angelo

has come out for Hillary, and taking some heat for it.

Meantime my idiot brother in law in Lubbock, uber Christian, is all in for Trump because, wait for it, if the political parties are against him, he must be doing something right. really!

Ah, Texas. I don't miss it a bit, but I'm kind of looking forward to the family reunion next year.

Not long ago, I heard them saying (I listen on the way home to see what they are thinking) that if Wall Street and both parties are against him, he must be doing something right.

11. She just needs to hang back and let Trump be Trump.

He is sounding more and more unhinged. Global conspiracies. Republicans in league with Hillary. "They" are coming to destroy you. More and more of his support will peel away. Only they crazies will remain and the rest either won't vote at all, vote 3rd party, or vote Hillary.

And with a little luck Dems will retake Congress and the GOP will be out of commission (if not fatally gored) for long enough for the Dems to actually 'Make America Again'.

13. He's losing Florida and within the MOE in Texas??? This will be a fucking landslide

More than I expected.

www.electoral-vote.com is where I get my info on trends.

If HRC is trending up in Texas and wins the state (as well as keeping all BO kept in 2012), she will gain 394 EVs. I believe that Missouri might flip, as might Indiana (Trump +5 now) and Georgia (+5 also).

Icing on the cake would be Indiana flipping. That would be a repudiation of Mike Pence completely. If this happens, HRC wins 421 EVs to the Troll's 137 and the biggest state he would carry would be TN with a whopping 11 EVs.

This might be the destruction of the GOP.

My state would finally go blue and hopefully stay that way. Eventually I have no doubt it will maybe in the next decade or two. But if all those voters were the Hispanic population. Damn son...

I don't see it flipping blue anytime soon.

Many, many people here hate Trump, but too many of them are non-voters, libertarians, and Bernie-or-bust people.

and after the leaked tape I noticed that the guy a few blocks away had removed his "Latinos for Trump" signs and replaced it with a couple of "Vote Republican" signs. I guess Trump news was just too much for him to continue to support Trump.
