Trump says his 2016 campaign could be his ‘single greatest waste of time, of energy and money’

Source: AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE

Donald Trump cast the US presidential race in stark personal terms Wednesday, telling voters that if he loses against Hillary Clinton it will be the “single greatest waste” of his time and money.

The provocative billionaire, in a disjointed speech in Ocala, Florida with just 27 days before the election, reminded supporters that he will have spent some $100 million of his own fortune on his campaign. “If I don’t win on November 8th, I will consider this the single greatest waste of time, of energy and money,” the Republican nominee told the crowd.

“We’ll not be able to reduce your taxes, or save your Second Amendment and appoint Supreme Court justices, and take care of your vets and fix up your very depleted” military, he said.

Trump trails his Democratic opponent Clinton in national polls, and his campaign is limping after last week’s release of a 2005 tape in which he is caught bragging about groping women.

Yes. His supporters OWE him this win. He bought and paid for it, and they need to show up and make sure he does win or it will all go to waste.

I wonder, after he loses, if he'll use the rolls of supporters to demand they pay him back, like a dad who spent all this money on a vacation trip for the kids and they didn't show. It'd be SO like him wouldn't it? "I did this for you, you didn't hold up your end, so you owe me $100 million!"

I doubt that he spent all that money, since he does not have all that much! He inflated prices at tRump Tower, his estate in Florida, his tRump plane. He MADE money. I want to see the entire tRump empire collapse right after this election. Vladimir will be madder than a wet hen when he discovers tRump can not repay him, nor can he hand over the USA to Vlad. Poor widdle Donnie. He will find it difficult to harass women once he is no longer a "star".

And to be honest, Hillary hasn't really run THAT good of a campaign. Him losing is completely his fault.

I'm excited for Hillary to win, I think she is an intelligent person who thinks through her actions. Her campaign has lacked charisma but she hasn't made the mistakes Trump has.

He will be a loser, the person who lost in the biggest contest of his life.

...the campagin has been VERY smart in how it rolled itself out. Strong surrogate speakers to begin, then Hillary, ads alternating between taking down Trump, building her up. Use of internet, and resources into swing states. Maybe not brilliant, but DARN good!

And if Trump loses, he won't admit to being a loser. Every time he loses anything, it's someone else's fault.

The bigots are so blinded by fear and ignorance, they refuse to realize that he is hurting them more than anyone else.

He is destroying America's reputation around the world. He will destroy the international trade we rely on. He will destroy the channels of trust and communication that we need for diplomacy and the fight against terrorism.

HUGE lie. I expect that much of that "spending" came out of his own bogus "Trump Foundation" and the funds raised from suckers who were unknowingly forced into monthly donations with no way to exit, and the rest from his overcharging event organizers for use of his hotels and other facilities.

Charging the campaign to rent space from his properties, then jacking up the rent, quadrupling it. Paying people connected to his foundations with sweetheart contracts. Using campaign funds to buy thousands of copies of his books. He LENT his campaign money, and never produced any written papers that he forgave the loans.

" About $2.7 million more was paid to at least seven companies Mr. Trump owns or to people who work for his real estate and branding empire, repaying them for services provided to his campaign. That total included more than $2 million for flights on his own planes and helicopter, a quarter of a million dollars to his Fifth Avenue office tower, and even $66,000 to Keith Schiller, his bodyguard and the head of security at the Trump Organization.
...
He spent about $2 million on hats, T-shirts and other merchandise, roughly half of it going to a Louisiana-based company, Ace Specialties, owned by a board member of Mr. Trump’s son’s charitable foundation. "

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/06/us/politics/donald-trumps-campaign-billed-as-self-funded-risks-little-of-his-fortune.html

That article came out 8 months ago, so doesn't describe the last 8 months of double dealing and fund siphoning scams he and his scummy family and business associates have since pulled.

"Sounds absolutely wonderful."

But in my 40 years, I've never seen an election this messed up, and a campaign like Trump's just fold like this. My god... It's crumbling in front of him. Most of the time, there is a united front on both sides, with the issues being discussed. But this time? We have the Dems as a stainless steel line, and the repubs, looking like a loose glob of powdered sugar. Factions within them are sniping at each other right and left. Simi sane people like Ted Cruz are being called traitors. Even the candidate himself seems to be reading the writing on the wall. Trump may as well be running for mayor of Detroit (where he's polling at ~0%).
