Colin Powell Offers Uncensored View Of The Clintons In Leaked Emails

Source: Talking Points Memo

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell offered up his unfiltered view of the Clintons in newly leaked emails from Powell’s personal account that were dumped online in a password protected database that was accessed by TPM on Wednesday.

“I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect,” the retired four-star general wrote of Hillary Clinton in a July 24, 2014 email to business partner Jeffrey Leeds, published by the anonymous site DC Leaks. “A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP).”

Asked about the authenticity of that email, Powell wrote to the New York Post, “Jeez, don’t remember this one. Best to ignore., (sic) don’t you think?”

Peggy Cifrino, a Powell aide, confirmed to Vice News he was hacked and “these are his emails,” but declined further comment.

You would never ever hear that word applied to a man. Of course the Colin has no credibility to me after that performance at the U.N. and being a willing accomplice in the crimes of the Bush administration.

Somehow, St. Colin's documented infidelity, lying (about the justification for a war that that continues to have a devastating impact) and cover-ups (about actually serious matters) just don't fit the media narrative.

You can see this in how people project Bill Clinton's policies and positions onto Hillary. Bill is a conservative Southern Democrat, Hillary is "establishment" and has some neo-liberal tendencies, but she's no conservative.

I thought I saw something on that posted in GD a few weeks back. There was evidence of alterations. ?

I find it a bit odd that in 2014 he says "A 70 year person"? I take that to mean a 70 year old.
And if she was a good friend he would probably know that she was 66 at the time of the email.

Something smells in my opinion.

It's a bit weird, no?

I'm not saying he couldn't have said all of those things but the 70 year old thing and the strange contradictory language just throws me a bit. I wonder if the guy he was emailing has a copy. It doesn't matter much in the end though.

That's why I said I do not condone the release or sensationalism of anything HACKED, regardless of whether it is for the better or worse. It is a crime, it is thief, and we should not patronize stolen information as much as we would not buy stolen goods.

Start flooding eager journalists with the realistic appearing emails from Republican party leadership and Trump. The 'journalists' won't bother to see if the emails can be verified to have come form RNC, Republican leaders or TRump (can they be verified?) -- Hell, does that matter?? Just print 'em! Corroborate later!

Wouldn't it be too bad if somebody outed that bitch Plame? That would make it seem like her husband, Joe Wilson, only got the job to check out Niger re "yellow cake" shipments to Iraq, out of nepotism and help squelch his article debunking our "yellow cake" TP in our rationale for invading Iraq. Yeah, if only somebody let it be known Wilson only got the job out of nepotism and he really doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about, that would be 'interesting'. I'm sure some of 'our boys' in the media would love to get that tidbit.

I see this thought put forth often enough, I need to comment.

I was in politics for some years, local and state level stuff. When I was chair of our Congressional district, I knew *never* to put anything in writing I would not want the world to see. (Even at such lowly levels one has adversaries.) Shit, I learned about not writing personal things in high school decades before that.

So no, someone who has been on the world stage should not get a pass for putting that into writing, as it were. He knew the risk and it has been realized. Judging by his hopefully dismissive response my guess is he is well aware of this and is currently hanging out with some familiar acquaintances; hindsight and regret.

I am a high school teacher, and I know, know, not to put things in emails. Between FOAIs and hacking, I could lose my job if I put some of the stuff I think into emails!! Not that it's bad, I just work in a very conservative district.

The supposed "greediness" is just his own sexist projection. People like Clinton much prefer power over wealth, and while the idea of wanting political power is seen as somehow inherently bad, I don't think it is as long as the person wants that power to do good.
