Following last week's vote in the House Oversight Committee, the full House takes up the issue of whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in Contempt of Congress for his role in the investigation into the "Fast and Furious" program.

The Department of Justice and the House leadership were in talks to prevent the vote until early Wednesday morning, when the AP reported they failed to reach an agreement.

The House Oversight Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Darrel Issa (R-CA), is seeking documents relating to the "Fast and Furious" program in which guns sold in South-Western states were tracked in hopes of tracing them to leaders of drug rings across the border in Mexico. Guns in the program were later used in several crimes, including the murder of a Border Patrol Agent.

The Justice Department argues that it has already provided all the relevant documents, except those that cover ongoing investigations. The White House announced that it was seeking executive privilege in withholding some of the documents just before the House Committee met last week.

I did leave a message. I am shocked at his lack of commitment. He is a Dem. How could he not know how he is voting?

AP: Holder Demanded Answers On Fast And Furious After CBS Report

Attorney General Eric Holder demanded answers from his subordinates the same day that that CBS aired a story alleging that the ATF allowed weapons to “walk” during Operation Fast and Furious, Pete Yost reports for the Associated Press.

“We need answers on this. Not defensive BS. Real answers,” Holder wrote in an email on Feb. 23, according to the AP. Holder’s email came a day after he attended the funeral of ICE Special Agent Jamie Zapata, according to his calendar. He ordered an inspector general investigation five days later.

The information would have been included in the documents that the Justice Department offered to turn over the congressional investigators under an agreement which would have resolved the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena. House Republicans rejected the agreement and are voting today to find the attorney general in contempt of Congress for the first time in history.

They're recording it now to verify.

This was an attempt to stop the nonsense and have a real investigation rather than this circus.
