California Delegates Boo Speakers At The Mention Of Uniting To Elect Clinton

Source: Talking Points Memo

-snip-

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Michael Honda (D-CA) were among the speakers who were booed. The crowd began protesting whenever uniting to elect Clinton was mentioned, Roll Call reported..

Some delegates also began chanting, "Bernie, Bernie, Bernie!" during Rep. Barbara Lee's (D-CA) speech, according to the report, and a sign supporting Sanders was thrust into Pelosi's face.

"I don't consider it a discourtesy even if it is intended as one," the minority leader reportedly said.

The uproar comes after it was revealed in leaked internal emails posted online Friday by Wikileaks that some DNC officials had potentially plotted against Sanders' campaign. DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who announced Sunday that she'd resign after the convention is over, was also booed Monday morning at a breakfast for the Florida delegation.

Senator Sanders has told his supporters to support Secretary Clinton. If they don't want to so that, then they should STOP using his name as their way of disrupting the proceedings.

Anarchy is not democracy. These few remaining die hards are pushing for anarchy and have nothing to do with democracy. Democracy has elected Hillary Clinton as the nominee for the Democratic Party.

This reminds me of people who become angry at the local paper for publishing the story about a drunk driver, as if the public humiliation is because the journalist wrote the story, when actually the news story is the fallout, because the idiot chose to drive drunk.

Clueless people think the the problem is the email release. It isn't. That is just a consequence of the actual problems.

The real problems are the ongoing situational ethics and the decision by the DNC to undermine Sanders' campaign. The consequence is the stain the DNC's actions have left on Clinton's chances.

There is no reason to celebrate this, as the DNC may have paved the path for a Trump victory.

As a Californian and lifelong contributor to the Democratic Party, I share the feelings of those in the Ca delegation who are trying to express their frustration with the marginalization of our state in the DNC primary process. We came last in the dates, so Iowa votes more influential than ours, the largest state/economy in the country? Then the cancellation of debate before the Ca primary and the courtesy to hear the candidate's focus on Ca's most high profile concerns. (fracking & earthquakes, marijuana legalization, the preferential funding of prisons over schools, the TPP and its ISDS threat to long fought for Ca environ, labor, food protections, the unaffordability of our once and free public universities, charter schools, net neutrality) That victory for Clinton was declared the night before our election only magnified my feeling as a Ca Democrat that our votes and voices were both not important and not heard@
the DNC.

There should be changes made by the DNC to the primary process to ensure 1/6 of all Americans and the state with the largest number of democrats are represented fairly. First and foremost move up our primary date so that our votes count. Second schedule a debate before our primary. To me that's what the "boos" from many in the Ca delegation express. They are not anti Clinton/Kane...they are expressing frustration to the leadership of our party, the DNC, which minimized Ca's voices, issues and our votes.

If not there, where?
