Kan. to rule on doctor's license in abortion case
By JOHN HANNA - Associated Press

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Kansas regulators are expected to decide during a Friday meeting whether to revoke the medical license of a doctor accused of performing substandard mental health exams on 11 young patients whom she then referred to the late Dr. George Tiller for late-term abortions.

The State Board of Healing Arts will review an administrative judge's February recommendation that it strip Dr. Ann Kristin Neuhaus of her license. The judge concluded that Neuhaus' 2003 examinations of 11 patients ages 10 to 18 were inadequate, saying her records lacked necessary information to show the exams were thorough and that she "seriously jeopardized" the patients' care.

Neuhaus provided the second opinion Tiller needed under Kansas law to perform late-term abortions on the patients at his Wichita clinic. Tiller was murdered in 2009 by an anti-abortion zealot.

Neuhaus has argued that her exams met accepted standards of care, and some abortion rights supporters questioned whether she can receive a fair hearing from the board, with Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, a strong abortion opponent, in office for almost 18 months. Neuhaus can challenge the board's decision in court, and her attorneys expected her to appeal if the board rules against her.

This is a witch hunt. The state board is acting on a complaint filed by a domestic terrorist, Cheryl Sullinger, who has served time in prison for conspiring to bomb an abortion clinic.

The state has already spent several hundred thousand dollars on this witch hunt. They spent $100,000 on an expert witness flown in and housed in an expensive hotel who testified she has never performed an abortion. She is an expert because she believes abortion is wrong.

The protocol Dr. Neuhaus used to examine her patients is well established and is recommended in the DSM used by doctors all across the country. The state refused to allow the doctor who authored the protocol to testify.

This is just a travesty. Please send good vibes, prayers and best wishes to Kristin Neuhaus and her family today.

I hope she has a legal case against the board and I hope she takes this as far as she can.

Another thing I forgot to mention - when Scott Roeder was arrested after he murdered Dr. Tiller, he had Cheryl Sullinger's phone number in his car.

She is truly a disgusting human being.

Not one of these wing-nuts considered the emotional damage being done to a 10 year old girl who was pregnant? Can you imagine the nightmare of her giving birth? Do they think she got pregnant because she was some kind of slut or what?

I teach high school Phys. Ed. in Las Vegas. Most of my girls are sophomores, and while our pregnancy rate is going down, I still deal with this issue way too much. I had 3 girls last year that already had kids...and those are the ones I knew about. One of them just turned 16 during the school year, and she had a (wait for it) 3 year old! All I could think of when she told me that is what kind of parent lets a 13 year old girl go through this?
