Donald Trump Adviser Signals Plan to Change Veterans’ Health Care

Source: Wall Street Journal

GOP front-runner would likely push VA toward privatization, shift to an insurance model

Donald Trump says the Department of Veterans Affairs’ health-care system is badly broken, and this week his campaign released some guidelines that would steer changes he would implement if he wins the presidency.

While short on details, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee would likely push VA health care toward privatization and might move for it to become more of an insurance provider like Medicare rather than an integrated hospital system, said Sam Clovis, Mr. Trump’s chief policy adviser, in an interview.

The Republican Play Book has been for Decades, Screw it up or Under fund a program then say privatize! Congress is now cutting the GI bill housing and school. Trump seems to be oblivious this and so many other things that have to do with are country or being president.

Which would allow the person with GI benefits to use the doctor, clinic or hospital of their choosing

The problem, as usual, is the the reimbursement rates are so hosed up many providers won't deal with them

Like Medicare and Medicaid now

Very much like the one time pell grant for education benefit for all military people.

Grant didn't cover all todays HUGE college costs did it?, so the colleges made it easy to attach the balance on student loans.

to wounded veterans with very expensive chronic conditions for their entire lives without any expectations of profit.

There are reasons why the VA is socialized. No one else is going to care for our veterans who served our country.

care they get from the VA. One passed last year and had been treated by the VA since coming home from Viet Nam in '65. Never any complaints. Bought a home under the VA and his family is well taken care of by the benefits. If Trump touches this system I venture to say that there will be one more big voting block against him.

has been top rate so far, having retired from Active Duty in 2015. The thought of Trump screwing it up is just one more nail in his coffin if you ask me.
