Irregularities overshadow U.S. presidential vote in New York City
Source: Reuters
Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump were favored to win their parties' U.S. presidential nominating contests in New York state on Tuesday, but voting was overshadowed by official confirmation that more than 125,000 people were missing from New York City voter rolls and reports of other irregularities.
New York City's comptroller ordered an audit of the city elections board after it confirmed the people's names had been removed from voter rolls.
"The people of New York City have lost confidence that the Board of Elections can effectively administer elections and we intend to find out why the Board of Elections is so consistently disorganized, chaotic and inefficient," Comptroller Scott Stringer said in a statement.
Faulty ballot scanners, late-opening polling locations and scant staffing were among the other problems that Stringer cited in a Tuesday letter to the board. He demanded swift attention.

Do you not know this? Do you not study election results and secretary of state vote matrices? Well many people do. It had nothing to do with republicans then. Its called cheating and like most liars she probably cheats or her surrogates do....those who want her elected are Wall St execs and Military contractors...you think they are playing paddy cake? Because we have such honest and upstanding Sanders voters who are all for democracy whenever they win, we shouldn't even hold primaries. We should just declare Sanders President and official "progressive" God, turn off the TV and wait for Nirvana to break out.

(35,383 posts)It is the habit of people who lose everywhere to make excuses, whether it's an election, or something else.
This is not really news; it's been going on since the dawn of human time.
If I were denied the right to vote honestly, it would still be the case that the denied vote would been for Ms. Clinton, since the issue of primary importance to me is climate change, and Senator Sanders proposals for dealing with it are disastrous. This fact conflicts with the rote, and frankly unjustified assumption, that anyone who is denied a vote is automatically a Sanders supporter. This is the raison d'etre for my jibe.
I am often informed by Sanders supporters, on hearing this, that I'm stupid, ill-informed, etc, etc.
They are so myopic that they can't believe that anyone has an honest disagreement with them. I've spent 30 years obsessively considering the options where Energy and the Environment are concerned, collecting a vast array of papers from the primary scientific literature to develop my views, and I find the objections of Sanders supporters to my views to be delusional, if nothing else. Right now the climate is collapsing at the highest rate ever observed. Sorry, but that upsets me, because Sanders proposals of "more of the same" didn't work, isn't working and won't work.
I am relieved, greatly relieved, that it is increasingly unlikely that the planet will have to suffer from a Sanders Presidency.
Have a nice day.

(35,383 posts)It's the Sanders crowd who carries on that Ms. Clinton is a monster worse than Trump.
If Sanders should because of his magical connection to God - at least as his worshipers would have it - actually win the nomination - which happily he won't - I would be forced to vote for his scientifically illiterate ass, making this the worst election choice since Dukakis ran against Bush I.
But it won't happen. Ms. Clinton will kick Trump's ass.
I held my nose and voted for Dukakis in 1988, and I suppose I could hold my nose and vote for Sanders 28 years later, even if I have learned infinitely more science than I knew in 1988. There are, in fact, some things I like about Senator Sanders, and one gets used to voting for the lesser of two evils, as one must often do, unless, of course, one is a purity "progressive" who do stupid ass things like vote for that idiot Nader in 2000.
I am more aware than most "progressives" - they wouldn't know progress if it bit them in the ass - what happened between 2001 and 2009. While Nader was on his quest to change NBA officiating, I was protesting the war and weeping when it came. This said, I've heard these awful flakes who voted for that Jack T. Ripper wannabe, actually blame the Iraq war on Gore.
The Sanders crowd likes to carry on that he is the only strong candidate in this election; but he's apparently not strong enough to beat Ms. Clinton. That says everything one needs to know, unless, of course, one is totally self absorbed to the point of thinking that other people's votes don't matter.
He's a weak candidate, since if he wasn't, he wouldn't be losing.
Have a nice evening.

(35,383 posts)...very well.
It stands to reason actually, given that they endorse a candidate whose record on climate change involves supporting a change in the only state in the Union that didn't use dangerous fossil fuels into one that now depends on electricity generated by burning dangerous natural gas.
If that bad hair racist becomes President of the United States, which won't happen, the reason will be because the same idiots who were responsible for the disaster of 2000 railed mindlessly slurring the Presidential candidate and voting for someone whose scientific knowledge is at the same level as Nader's, i.e., nonexistent.
Because Sanders is a loser, we can at least avoid a President dedicated to destroying the world's largest, by far, form of climate change gas free energy, nuclear energy.
I can't really help dummies who can't tell the difference between Donald racist Trump and Hillary Clinton, the next President of the United States.
This conversation is concluded; I think I'll use this opportunity, for the 4th time in my long tenure at DU, to exercise my right to use the ignore key to ignore yet another crank who despises the Democratic Candidate.
But before I go, let me leave you with the perfect video that clearly evokes the Sanders candidacy:

"29 delegates above Sanders in her landslide victory in her home state?"
Clinton netted 31 delegates, just as the other poster said, and NY is not Clinton's home state, but Sanders was born in Brooklyn.
