Rubio: Trump is 'an embarrassment' and Republicans will pay big in November
Source: The Guardian
The Republican party will be consigned to the wilderness at Novembers US presidential election and beyond if it chooses Donald Trump as its candidate, rival Marco Rubio has said.
In an interview with the Guardian on Monday evening, the Florida senator whose fate is likely to be sealed if he fails to win his home state on Tuesday night said the New York billionaire was an embarrassment who would not be respected around the world.

If were going to be the party of fear, were going to spend some time in the wilderness, Rubio said. If were the party of fear, with a candidate who basically is trying to prey upon peoples fears to get them to vote for them, I think were going to pay a big price in November and beyond.

A lot of GOP trying to derail the Trump machine.
I'm almost beginning to think, knock wood, that the damage is already
done and is not entirely repairable even if they do succeed in dumping
their albatross.
Trump has steamrolled all of them and their party and its beliefs. He's not
consistent with much of what they normally run on. Unbelievable.

(721 posts)Rubio loathes both Trump and Cruz. I can't see him endorsing, supporting, or even voting for either.

(9,829 posts)At that point, in order to to remain a viable candidate he had no other answer. However, given events "between then and now" Rubio or any other GOP candidate could ultimately walk away from Trump and leave him to his own devices, without having to issue much in the way of apology. The GOP establishment's best course might be to sit out a train wreck (or perhaps objective lesson?) come November, in order to pick up the pieces and eventually regain control.

(19,672 posts)that don't like any of their candidates will vote for Hillary because she is more if a moderate. They may not be crazy about her but she is a lot better than anything they have.
I hope it falls that way.

(6,241 posts)Rubio says. But I agree with Rubio's vision for America 2016. Trump will embarrass the GOP and kill their brand for years. Clinton/Sanders 2016.
Hopefully Trump's antics will cause the GOP to nudge itself a bit to the left, and they become more reasonable people.

(24,991 posts)the GOP needs some "time in the wilderness" to get acquainted with how things roll in the 21st century, understand that there are other forces at work which they cannot control through wishful thinking and heavy propaganda

(42,862 posts)Their last effort to take-stock in themselves and their "post-mortem" recommendations were completely ignored. Now that they're scraping the bottom of the barrel, and they find themselves face down in a gutter filled with who-knows-what, they might just be motivated enough to do something.
Oh! Silly me! Who am I kidding?!
They'll do as they always do and double-down!

(15,134 posts)from him at the convention.
First, let's just get the whole concept of them having some kind of sober analysis and acting like adults - never, NEVER going to happen - out of the way.
IF they let him get the nomination there are three possible outcomes ...
1) Unlikely, he wins and isn't horrible and it works out for them.
2) Most likely he and the party loses (probably down ticket big) this year.
3) He wins and is a disaster and they get killed in the 18 mid terms and 20 presidential.
Now, the benefit to them to let him get the nomination is that these would be TEMPORARY loses. This year if he loses, 18 and 20 if he wins and is a disaster.
But, they then get to tell the complete wackadoons they rely on to win elections, "you got your full blown idiot and it didn't work out" and they would go back to business as usual.
IF they take the nomination ...
They will absolutely lose this election as Trump and his loons will punish them for it.
This rift will then remain for decades, because these idiots who are supporting him will never vote R again, they are that volatile, and minus this block of idiots, they will have a VERY hard time winning elections.

Fuck Rubio.
I don't give a fuck if republicans attack each other but it's a lie when any of them claim Trump's racist appeals aren't who they are as a party - because it is and has been for a very long time.
