Donald Trump on Sunday declined to condemn David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan leader who this week urged sympathisers to vote for the billionaire in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
I dont know anything about David Duke, Trump said, in an interview on CNN, adding: Certainly I would disavow it if I thought there was something wrong.
-----------snip------------
I dont know anything about David Duke. I dont know anything about what youre even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists, Trump said.
So I dont know. I dont know did he endorse me, or whats going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists.

Ignorance, whether true or feigning, on this issue or any issue of importance
is simply not acceptable for any Presidential candidate. It is a true disqualifier
that should ring alarm bells in any voter's mind.

(21,677 posts)I wonder how Donald would fare debating with a Jewish man who is the son of a holocaust survivor that did not speak English? Would Donald know what The Holocaust was or is that beyond his level of comprehension too? If he does not know, he has no business running for president and furthermore, he needs to go back to school and learn all about it!
As for David Duke, famed Klansman that he is, how could anyone NOT know and yes, Donald can google as well as the can tweet I am quite sure. Just shows what a liar he is!
Watch it and weep Donald if you have such an ability within yourself:
He sickens me so and it saddens me greatly to think that Donald, racist that he is, claims to not know who David Duke and the KKK are!

Between the 14th hole and the 15th tee of one of the clubs two courses, Mr. Trump installed a flagpole on a stone pedestal overlooking the Potomac, to which he affixed a plaque purportedly designating The River of Blood.
Many great American soldiers, both of the North and South, died at this spot, the inscription reads. The casualties were so great that the water would turn red and thus became known as The River of Blood.
The inscription, beneath his family crest and above Mr. Trumps full name, concludes: It is my great honor to have preserved this important section of the Potomac River!

No. Uh-uh. No way. Nothing like that ever happened there, said Richard Gillespie, the executive director of the Mosby Heritage Area Association, a historical preservation and education group devoted to an 1,800-square-mile section of the Northern Virginia Piedmont, including the Lowes Island site.
The only thing that was remotely close to that, Mr. Gillespie said, was 11 miles up the river at the Battle of Balls Bluff in 1861, a rout of Union forces in which several hundred were killed. The River of Blood? he added. Nope, not there.

@ one time this alone would have been enough to end somebody's run for president.

(2,983 posts)Even a man like Trump can use google to find out the history of such figures as David Duke. This pretense of ignorance in this regard is just that - a pretense. He will take the support of white supremacists, neo-nazis, tea party republicans, far right militia groups and so on and so forth... while acting shocked if someone suggests that they are what they are.
Should he take the Presidency, expect his statements to be far more honest - and his actions to be far more direct. He will further condemn muslims, African Americans, Latinos... anyone who isn't lily white and conservative. This man goes well beyond dangerous. I don't know how he has made it this far, I just can't wrap my mind around people I know and respect intending to vote for him... I guess they don't read.
I wonder if Trump will offer David Duke a cabinet position, if he wins.

Donald Trump Wins Ku Klux Klan Presidential Nomination
DIXIE (The Nil Admirari) - Earlier today, Ku Klux Klan (KKK) chapters in the South confirmed Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump had unanimously won the contest to be the KKK presidential nominee. Trump, who was also given the newly-created KKK title "Grand Imperial Giant Cyclops Wizard," announced he hoped to wrap up the GOP presidential nomination by the end of March.

(2,479 posts)If these media people don't want to end up working in the propaganda department of a Nazi administration, they need to confront this bastard directly about what sort of people his supporters are.
In particular, the next time Trump says "I don't know who David Duke is," the interviewer needs to explain that Duke is a white supremicist, racist dick-head and then ask again whether Donald wants to condemn Duke or not.
For starters, here are two paragraphs from Wikipedia's entry on David Duke:
David Ernest Duke (born July 1, 1950) is an American white nationalist, antisemitic conspiracy theorist, far-right politician, and former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.[5][6] A former one-term Republican Louisiana State Representative, he was a candidate in the Democratic presidential primaries in 1988 and the Republican presidential primaries in 1992. Duke unsuccessfully ran for the Louisiana State Senate, United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, and Governor of Louisiana. Duke is a felon, having pleaded guilty to defrauding supporters by falsely claiming to have no money and being in danger of losing his home in order to solicit emergency donations; at the time, Duke was financially secure, and used the donations for recreational gambling.[7]
Duke describes himself as a "racial realist," asserting that "all people have a basic human right to preserve their own heritage."[8] Duke also speaks against what he describes as Jewish control of the Federal Reserve Bank, the U.S. federal government and the media. Duke supports the preservation of what he considers to be Western culture and traditionalist Christian family values, Constitutionalism, abolition of the Internal Revenue Service, voluntary racial segregation, anti-Communism and white separatism.[9][10][11] He has been accused of supporting Holocaust denial.
