Police arrest 200 in child sex trafficking sting across Los Angeles County

Source: Long Beach Press-Telegram

Nearly 200 people were arrested during a recent countywide enforcement operation that focused on the rescue and recovery of children who were sexually exploited commercially, authorities said today.

The joint law enforcement operation, dubbed Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, was conducted from Jan. 18 through Jan. 23, and took place during National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Participating in the effort were members of the LAPD Detective Support and Vice Division Human Trafficking Unit; the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Human Trafficking Task Force; and the FBI’s Innocence Lost Task Force.

Vice investigators across the county conducted field operations to raise the public awareness of human trafficking by searching for potential sex trafficking victims, rescuing them and attempting to locate and arrest those who exploited them.

Everyone knew there were M.P.s and such involved 30 years ago. Even now, with their supposedly massive investigation, they don't reveal what they have found about someone until they are dead or terminally ill. I doubt it stopped 30 years ago but you won't see anyone still living and healthy being prosecuted. "People like to gossip about Mr. X but he is only 86, so we will take a few more years to build our case. We wouldn't to slander anyone." The Monarchy in Britain aren't the only ones that enjoy special consideration from their judicial system.

Something tells me our lame excuse for a news media would have been all over this if it had happened in some remote country where everyone speaks some foreign language.

Glad to see that the FBI participated in this ("Innocence Lost task Force&quot

They need to continue to go after "real criminals" instead of state approved medical pot users.

(I wish they would begin to address the very real problem of "organized stalking&quot

There was a spot on the news this week showing new sw which shows what IP addresses are accessing child porn, and can even detect how many files are on a computer and determine if they are a source of new (meaning they are making them) or just redistribution. They could even geo map the IP addresses to specific locations.

Details were vague, but it looks like they are taking advantage of the crack of Tor which can reveal the end point IP addresses of users. Most of this junk is available on the dark web, which is most easily accessed using Tor enabled browsers.

Anyway, it's an interesting twist on digital forensics.

It may be this was used in part to track down targets.

If you wanted to catch someone who was hiding their tracks using tor or public vpn services, it would be insanely effective to create your own versions with enough snoopery built in to give you gobs of intel.

Under the patriot act, it wouldn't even be illegal.

So just as the feds know what code will trigger a virus scanner and what won't (because they have the algorithm's), and can thus target spyware you can't see, they can peek in all your windows and open any door.

bwah-hah-ha. Only it isn't really funny.

It makes them feel ever youthful and invincible. These are some very vampiric people. Many are people in high high places, this is why it continues and flourishes.
