'Reagan blood' auction cancelled
Source: BBC News
A vial said to contain a sample of the late US President Ronald Reagan's blood has been withdrawn from sale by an online auction house.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation had expressed outrage over the auction, in which bidding had reached over $30,000 (£19,000).
UK-based PFC Auctions said in a statement that the vial would now be donated to the Reagan foundation.
The foundation said it was pleased the blood would stay "out of public hands".

Oh, wait. That's Voldemort... and unicorn blood. I always get them confused.

Creepy to most people. But it would sell, being a genuine relic of "St. Ronnie."

(3,109 posts)I heard on NPR tonight that the auction had been cancelled after complaints by Reagan's family and Foundation. So the owner is going to donate it to the Foundation. The good part of this is that there were already sizable bids on it with the High bid (so far) well over $6000.00. He now knows how much he can deduct on his taxes for his donation to a non-profit foundation.

(30,247 posts)The auction was unseemly and ghoulish. Whether we liked Reagan or not is beside the point. To try to sell to the highest bidder the blood of a president who was victim of an assassination attempt is contemptuous, regardless of who the president happened to be.
