Investigators believe San Bernardino female attacker Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to ISIS leade
As the San Bernardino attack was happening, investigators believe the female shooter, Tashfeen Malik, posted on Facebook, pledging allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, three U.S. officials familiar with the investigation told CNN.
The posting was by Malik made on an account with a different name, according to one U.S. official. The officials did not explain how they knew Malik made the post.

I'm sure they'll find a way to blame Bush or Obama.
Just because they pledged themselves to some organization doesn't mean they intended jihad.
But then a lot of people can only think in one dimension.
And not at all like a terrorist attack.
Which is why authorities are concentrating on the workplace violence angle.
so why is anyone even arguing at this point.
All the evidence points to workplace violence and not a terrorist attack.
There is no evidence his religion played any part in this specific attack. That is purely speculation.
You may have a point if they hadn't found an arsenal, including a bomb making factory, in their home. It was OBVIOUS they planned something bigger if they had gotten away with this one. Along with the skank he brought over here pledging herself to a terrorist organization, it really only makes you look foolish to claim his only aim was to kill his co-workers. It's talk like yours that is hurting the Democratic party on this issue.
He was a wannabe but totally bought in to the Isis scene. I agree the dems could blow it by being too PC (really just stupid) on this - if it looks and walks like a duck - it's a da*n duck!
you'd have to have your fingers in your ears while screaming LA LA LA LA to not hear it. I'll be damned if I'm going to hand over supreme court nominations because some in our party want to ignore the glaringly obvious. I will be there to shout them down every single time.
One doesn't have to be a weatherman to know which way that wind is blowing.
It is clear that this guy had issues. I think he found himself in a situation where he could get himself a "two-fer."
It must suck to live in such a narrow band of reality.
It is very possible the attack was a result of anger over a workplace issue.
They know he was at the facility earlier in the day and left angry over some issue. We also know he specifically targeted his co-workers. If you knew anything about terrorist groups you would know this was not what ISIS or any other group narrates as the way to go about one.
" It's talk like yours that is hurting the Democratic party on this issue."
It's talk like yours that fuels the attacks on Mosques and Muslims in this country.
to live in such denial. If you want to continue to be so politically correct, you want to ignore ALL of the evidence that they've already found - in addition to that skank declaring her support for isis, knock yourself out. I'm not going to let our party get hijacked by those who keep their heads in the sand.
I can't imagine living in a world that is so completely black and white such as yours.
isis has any room for gray, I feel very, very sorry for you. Get help.
You should delete the inflammatory remarks.
I'll take the hides gladly. I still remember the posts about the Christians after the Planned Parenthood shootings. I'm shining a bright light on the hypocrisy of DU - if a jury wants to hide it, nothing I can do about it.
for simply saying I don't know if I agree with a poster. Keep posting - some of us have our eyes wide open. The hell with PC>
abide by the rules. Apparently, you don't.
thank you for the concern (really, not bullshitting AT ALL). But I really feel it's time to show the hypocrisy around here when it comes to religion. While I sometimes post out of anger, this is not one of those times.
I don't understand your need to disseminate such mean spirited posts.
No - I don't care what I call that piece of crap. Perhaps I should use lovely lady to describe her. Would that make you feel better? I'm using that word purposefully. I'm sick of the political correctness. I'm a woman and I have no problem describing one of my own with that word when it's deserved.
but it's been perverted to mean you have to watch every single word that comes out of your mouth because someone, somewhere in the world may get the vapors over it. All it's used for these days is to muzzle people and futhermore, DU says horrible, wretched things about Christians all the time and nobody says boo. It's only Islam that gets a pass and I'm sick of it.
Similar to I couldn't care less.
threads on the planned parenthood shootings and get back to me. Or don't. Your choice.
with the two wrongs don't make a right argument? I tried polite, I got laughed at and mocked. Let's remember I've been here over a decade and have seen this kind of hypocrisy since 9/11. Enough is enough.
"who's Bernie"? But I quickly caught on. Did Bernie Sanders really invent the phrase "enough is enough" or are you insinuating it's his for the foreseeable future?
It just caught my eye.
of his speeches but never noticed he was using enough is enough as a catch phrase. It's so common a phrase, it honestly didn't click it was his. I like Bernie - I love his platform - in my opinion, he can't win the general and I think Hillary will be a stronger candidate. Like in 2008, if Hillary isn't the candidate, I will hop on board and get my tshirts, buttons, make calls, knock on doors and most importantly, vote. I would never stay home and pout - the supreme court is way too important.
Farook's neighbors saw all the packages and suspicious activity going on at their house and didn't alert authorities. They didn't want to risk this turning into another Clock Boy thing, and risk being sued for $15 million. "If you see something, say something. If you're right, you'll save lives. If you're wrong, we'll fucking destroy you."
That's the valid purpose of political correctness. It got those 14 people killed.
Do you think the police would have done anything if a neighbor reported that someone was receiving packages and spending time in their garage? People really need to get a grip.
the bomb making factory in the garage, the thousands of rounds of ammo, and may have turned it over to the Fed, who would have found the contact between this couple and overseas terrorist subjects. The couple would have been arrested, and the attack wouldn't have happened.
Several of Syed Farooks neighbors told ABC News they noticed suspicious activity at the home of the San Bernardino shooter, as well as his mothers home at another location. No reports were made, however, for fear of being accused of racial profiling.
At Farooks mothers house, however, neighbor Aaron Elswick recalled another neighbor noticing quite a few packages arriving within a short amount of time.
They were actually doing a lot of work out in the garage, he said, adding that the neighbor was kind of suspicious and wanted to report it but didnt want to profile Farook and his family.
of ammo and the bombs made in their garage weren't with them. Which means they weren't needed for THAT attack. Which means they were needed for another one they had planned.
The Regional Center was the terrorist equalivant of a rehearsal. Where was opening night?
Pledging allegiance to a terrorist group is pretty fucking good evidence of terroristic intent.
Open your fucking eyes.
Because he was angry with a coworker.
They're still terrorists. (And don't forget they rented that vehicle a few days before the party, so all indications are that they planned an attack somewhere in the very near future.)
Most recently three in Jordan by their coworkers being trained by them. It's not far fetched. The fort hood terrorist killed his co workers. There are many examples.
And they had been in touch with international terrorists.
Inventory of the house
He began deleting files from his computer and destroying evidence a day before the attacks
And again, where is the evidence this was a terrorist attack? Not even the authorities have called it such.
I did a quick search in Google News and that came up first.
Here is and ABC News link with the same info
Why in the world would anyone have bombs and huge numbers of bullets IN THEIR HOME with a six-month-old baby? She was from Saudi Arabia.
So far, in the US, we have seen a number of Muslim terrorists from Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The 9/11 hijackers were in great part from Saudi Arabia.
Of course they were ISIS-inspired if not worse.
It is naive to deny the probability of the link between ISIS and these criminals.
Maybe we should be more careful in reviewing visa applications of people who want to enter the US and are from Saudi Arabia. That's my opinion.
organization is weak? Having a all the ingredients plus 12 already made pipe bombs is weak? An arsenal of guns with almost 5000 rounds of ammunition is weak? You are part of the problem.
You've made up your mind without having all the evidence.
The FBI is investigating it as a POSSIBLE terrorist act. It's also being being investigated as workplace violence.
Personally, I'm going to wait until the end of the investigation and the final conclusions are made before making up my mind.
In the meantime, you going off believing it was a terrorist attack is what is fueling the anti-Muslim attacks and threats.
some nobody in NYC being SURE this was terrorism is what's fueling the anti-Muslim violence. Has nothing to do with the ACTUAL violence being perpetrated by Muslims (mostly killing other Muslims) that is happening every single day. Keep up the pc bullshit when the truth is right in front of you. It's sure to help the party.
I don't want anything to do with it.
And yes, your online postings do influence other people. And some of those people will commit violence based upon what you and others post that are read.
Or do you believe Carly had nothing to do with Dear's PP attack even after quoting her?
you, even though you might deserve it.
This is where DU is at its lowest. When members can't exchange different points of view without insulting one another. I'd say calling people foolish, ignoring what's glaringly obvious, being politically correct, saying it's talk like yours that's hurting the Democratic partyall of that is rude too. And so unnecessary.
and all the proof I need of that is reading DU this week. The talk about Christian terrorists when the planned parenthood shooting occurred vs the talk about when these two Islamic terrorists shot up his co-workers (along with the MOUNTAIN of evidence they were planning something even more heinous and the skank declaring allegiance to isis) tells all that needs to be said. Bill Maher was right on the money about liberals having a blind spot with Islam and I'm sick of dancing around the problem because someone's feelings may be hurt.
you're getting the vapors about my describing this piece of crap who shot up a room full of people and had a bomb making factory in her basement a skank. That I even share a gender with her makes me nauseous.
look up the coverage of both the Muhammad cartoons, and the destruction of the artwork called "Piss Christ".
The general consensus from those episodes was:
The person that destroyed the artwork was a "Christian terrorist" that should go to jail for the destruction.
The cartoons shouldn't have been made because they offend violent religious people, and there's no reason to do that.
If you think the denial bullshit is part of the larger Democratic party, you're delusional. If me telling the truth about what's going on with the perversion of a religion is a problem for you, tough shit.
violence attack (based on the fight in the workplace).
The police are investigating, but that does not mean that we can't kind of reason this out for ourselves just temporarily until the official verdict is in. There will be no jury trial of the couple involved, but we don't know who else may have been involved in the amassing of the collection of bombs and other weaponry and ammunition.
"I'd call you a sodomistic necrophiliac, but that's beating a dead horse"
authorities are now saying it's looking like a case of terrorism.
They were well prepared to carry out terrorist attacks in this country, that's an undisputed fact.
their house. It does not fit the pattern of workplace violence. That type of violence usually is spontaneous. This attack was anything but spontaneous. They deleted some of their online profiles the day before the attack happened.
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) --
The FBI says it is investigating the deadly mass shooting in California as an 'act of terrorism.'
David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles office, made the declaration at a news conference Friday in California.
He also said the shooters attempted to destroy evidence, including crushing two cell phones and discarding them in a trash can. He said authorities continue to investigate the case to understand the motivations of the shooters and whether they were planning more attacks.
Well, he didnt start it, it started in the 60's
he just gave it a huge boost
This guy was a Muslim long before he was a radical, something changed. That marriage seems to be the catalyst.
These were purchased legally, I think.
Personally I dont think any laws, especially now that we have over 300 million guns, will do much, but background checks is better than none.
I am trying to figure out how to approach this without alienating people who are on my side politically.
But guys, no matter why these two did this, and ESPECIALLY if it was terrorism, isnt it time to make it near impossible for people to get these guns? Especially these guns, right!
The rifles were not legal. Yes, they were purchased legally. But they were not CA compliant, in that the magazine could be easily changed (and were larger than permitted).
I actually worked on what eventually became the CA law and realized it was a waste of time about 10 minutes in.
Anyone with a modicum of mechanical knowledge and a Drimmel can defeat this kind of thing.
The main benefit is it makes the charges for gang bangers that do so (who are the overwhelming majority of shooters --- not Muslims or Bitter Clingers --- much stiffer when they do get busted for whatever.
I am dumb-struck by the fact that the GOP can't even block people on the FBI watch list from owning guns. Just sickening.
nose on my face but whatever. In all honesty, when I heard pipe bombs, I thought terrorism, when I heard one of the perps was a woman, I was 100% sure.
It is what it is.
We have a gun/violence problem in the United States.
We have a radical jihadist Islamist problem internationally.
We need to deal with the cold, plain, facts.
I've called this an obvious terrorist attack where the nra gave a helping hand. That Saudi Arabia visit is also evidence to add to ALL the rest of the obvious clues.
I was an opponent of internet surveillance who has been crying about pervasive surveillance for the last 15 years.
Both those people are obviously wrong.
It has not protected us at all. On the bright side, you're not really being closely surveilled either.
US intelligence community
That's the point. Fears of pervasive surveillance are way overblown. So is confidence in pervasive surveillance, though!
No way it can be a duck!!!!!!!!!!!
broadcast with a man who was a neighbor. He said neighbors noticed a constant stream of packages being delivered to the home and the couple working in the garage late into the night. He said the activities seemed somewhat suspicious, but because the couple was of Middle Eastern descent, the neighbors were reluctant to stererotype them and did not notify authorities. As a longtime resident of the melting pot that is So. Calif., that is entirely plausible. The live and let live attitude of the populace and tendency to not get to know one's neighbors gave the couple the cover they needed to plan and ultimately carry out the attack.
And for anyone who sincerely questions whether this was terrorism, I have some proverbial ocean front property in Arizona that you might be interested in.
Unless it is found that she has ISIS ties and plotted with or through the direct influence of ISIS, it seems like a lone radical religious terrorist who managed to turn her husband, who had anger related to workplace grievances anyway, by fanning the flames of hate. Sadly, if this is the case, there will be no nuance seen and it will just be - "muslim terrorist" as opposed to crazy idealog who uses easy access to guns to carry out a fatal agenda. She may well be no different than Robert Dear. We shall see.
going back years between farook and people on watch list. They explained they were not "high" on the watch list. But some connections were already established.
The report is they are "carbon copies" of the "Bomb you can make in your mother's kitchen" as detailed in the ISIS magazine.
This was a very, very premeditated attack that took upwards of $30,000 (just for materials) and months to prepare. There is little doubt they had help and were at this a LONG time. Not remotely a crime of passion.
Did he perhaps pick work because there was an apostate Muslim and a conservative Jewish guy who dared to disagree* with him? Yes, he probably did a Leeroy Jenkins and went off too early.
* The BBC had some idiot who basically said Jews have to be quiet and keep a low profile or they are at fault for getting killed. I guess woman should wear burkas and not drive so they don't get raped, too. I say "fuck you" to the BBC. I may spend today making a 10 foot tall propane Hanukiah for the front yard.
Muslims. What I read from the page looked like racist hate-speech to me. Really, really hateful. I wouldn't have wanted him as a co-worker, and I'm not Muslim. It was jarring and weird to read the description by his friends/family as such a loving, kind man because it was in such contrast with his facebook page. Iirc, he was also an arch conservative, Limbaugh-educated type.
Do you really believe Muslims are so fragile they can't take opposing theological views?
Should they be spared looking at the faces of woman, as well, to prevent rape?
Should I remove my mezuzah and not celebrate Hanukkah as must the the Jews in Paris to prevent attacks?*
Must apostates from Islam be stoned to please Muslims?
That's all just absurd, of course, and I know you don't think any of that, but it's the ultimate conclusion from that line of thinking.
I probably have more theological conflicts with a Messianic (whatever that is) Jewish guy than I do a Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or Karaite. It doesn't mean I don't have a right to practice my religion or have to hide my faith.
Long way of saying, I don't care if the Jewish guy was an asshat. Sounds like he was.
But to even remotely justify terrorism based on the religion or politics of the victim is a very dangerous path.
The poster is talking about reasons why the killer would've had a grievance against a coworker. But even a valid grievance doesn't justify a violent response. Hell, even Bin Laden had a valid grievance!
That's why my full post includes:
"That's all just absurd, of course, and I know you don't think any of that, but it's the ultimate conclusion from that line of thinking."
It's a dangerous line (and insulting to normal Muslims) to think that we must act as Dhimmi to prevent "triggering" them.
any more than I suggested killing arch conservative, Limbaugh-educated types
"I want you to be the mother of my child"
"Ok as long as I can commit jihad against the American infidels"
If I had seen it sooner, I would have done the +1000 thing. Let's also remember all the stories we're hearing about what isis does to girls/women (and this fucking skank swears allegiance to them anyway) every single day - isis sells them into slavery, rapes them, tortures them, kills them.
as much as I detest the republican congress, I'm not ready to put them in the same category as isis. The republicans I will rail against, mock and most importantly, vote against. They could continue to bomb the crap out of isis without me losing a wink of sleep.
in the ME do, they would. I have no doubt. If they can be as evil as they are already, they can be even more evil.
I have no qualms with admitting that in certain cases, the other side is possibly correct. Just because you're a Democrat does not mean you need to ignore the obvious. It makes us look stupid to argue that this was 100% workplace violence, when there are signs it was not.
Let's stand firm on those ideals which we know have backbone. To disagree and argue, just because we need to oppose the repubs on every issue, makes us as stupid and close minded as they are. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.
Not all Muslims are horrible people. There are plenty of repubs who will argue that point to the end. But certainly it is far beyond a peaceful religion.
Facts are facts, and to use Islam and the Koran as a means for violence, is a fact. Just like Christians who use the Bible's teachings for that purpose are also pieces of shit. But the sheer amount of Muslims using Islam is a clear signal that there is something within that is teaching that evil.
All cops are not Pigs, but there are enough who are, to taint the whole lot unfortunately. Same goes with Muslims in my opinion, and as a Jew, I will continue to exercise the utmost caution with people who observe the religion unconditionally. It is too obvious to ignore at this point.
A post under a different name, posted during the attack, and they say it's actually her. I think I'd need to know more before settling on their explanation for the post
And it can be traced that way?
Just guessing, cuz I don't know
It is interesting, posting on social media during a terrorist act.....what a world
but I've only seen that in some "news" sources I wouldn't use here (although tbh they've often been ahead of msm and accurate)
In the AP story just posted here the FBI says they recovered 2 phones the terrorists tried to destroy and throw away.
It also says the Facebook posts were deleted????
They must have tech forensics
so they probably traced who owned the post in the same way they could trace anybody posting under an alias here or over at CC.
FBI has now officially taken over the investigation as a terrorist attack.
