Army poised to cover for striking NHS doctors

Source: Telegraph UK

Army medical staff are expected to be drafted into NHS hospitals as cover for striking junior doctors, according to a document uncovered by The Telegraph.

The first of three strikes by junior doctors is due to begin on Tuesday Dec 1, when only emergency care is planned, with full stoppages on Dec 8 and Dec 16.

It would be the first full walkouts by doctors in NHS history.

In official guidance on industrial action issued by the British Medical Association (BMA), it said it expects medics from the Armed Forces will be used to help plug the gap on strike days.

4. I think we should use our military for health care

Fuck these doctors who can't survive on $500,000 or more a year. For returning vets, it would guarantee a job when they get out. It should be an option for Medicare for all. I have MediCal so I would have to be treated at a military hospital or clinic, unless of an unforeseen emergency. Of course they would have to open up more clinics in cities, but it should be 100% FREE.

6. Not for junior doctors it isn't.

It's the juniors that are going on strike - and deservedly so as their salaries
and working hours are appalling.

The NHS management's approach under the last couple of governments
has been to cut front-line staff, demand ridiculously high entry qualifications
from UK medical hopefuls, bring in unqualified & badly-trained foreign
doctors/nurses and then hire more administrators to manage the latter!
