Super Defection - Pro-Bachmann Super PAC switches to Romney
from link:http://www.thedaily.com/page/2011/12/28/web-bachmann-pac-goes-romney/|The Daily]:
Citizens for a Working America, the so-called Super PAC which aired TV ads against a Democratic congressional candidate last year, had indicated earlier this year that it was backing the Minnesota congresswoman in the GOP nominating contest. But the group instead made a $475,000 Iowa ad buy on Christmas Eve in support of Romney, according to Federal Election Commission data published today.
The so-called independent expenditure was listed as supporting Romney's candidacy, and an Iowa political operative who has seen the ad confirmed to The Daily that it's a 30-second positive spot about the former Massachusetts governor that doesn't mention any other candidate.
Three political insiders associated with the Super PAC did not immediately return calls and emails seeking comment. But it's just the latest indication of how far Bachmann's campaign has fallen since quickly peaking with an Ames Straw Poll win in August. And less than a week before the Iowa caucuses, it will help further position Romney for what's increasingly shaping up to be a surprise win.
I wonder if the PAC's contributors can ask for their money back. Then again, why would they want to?

Or maybe it's the nail in the head they issued Mitty, during the magic underwear ritual. Bonk bonk.

(37,449 posts)Citizens for a Working America appears to be founded by Lancaster, Virginia-based Republican operative Norman Cummings. The address on the organization's FEC filing is the same one listed by Cumming's wife on the website of her organization "Working With Congress." It also is the registrant address of another major Norm Cummings initiative, a controversial slot machine campaign in Ohio.
For someone who has been in Republican politics for so long, Cummings is far from a national figure. Starting with the Ohio Republican Party, he worked his way up through the ranks to serve under famed operative Lee Atwater on George H.W. Bush's presidential campaign. From 1989-1992 he was political director and then chief of staff for the Republican National Committee and in 1992 he started the public affairs consulting firm, the Cummings Group.

This on the heels of Michele's Iowa co-chair accepting a job with Ron Paul.
P.S. A Romney win won't "surprise" me a bit, especially since the Rethugs will be tallying up the votes "in an undisclosed location."

(3,927 posts)Frankly, I'd only get more pleasure watching her concession speech to her Democratic opponent after her next election. But this does give me a little teeny bit of a tingle of joy. It's sick, I know, but this woman and her POS bigoted husband REALLY get on my last nerve.
(And sadly, it may not be too far from the truth. When it comes down to it, with all of the bigoted wingnuts in this party, the presidential candidate probably does need to fit into the old white boy club.)
