Detroit Free Press Poll: Clinton faces battle to win Michigan
Source: Detroit Free Press
WASHINGTON Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is no doubt counting on Michigan being in the Democratic column again in the 2016 presidential race, but with more than half the people in a new poll expressing an unfavorable view of her, thats not as certain an outcome as it had been.
Clinton, the favorite for the Democratic nomination, has seen her unfavorable rating rise across the U.S. with questions swirling about her use of a private email server during her time at the State Department. And, according to a new poll by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA done exclusively for the Free Press/WXYZ-TV, its no different in Michigan.
Some 55% of the 600 likely voters surveyed between last Tuesday and Saturday gave her an unfavorable rating, compared to 32% who viewed her favorably. Meanwhile, in head-to-head matchups with leading Republican candidates, she trailed former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush 45%-40% with 15% undecided, and barely led businessman Donald Trump 44%-42% with 14% undecided.
With 15 months to go until the election its too early to read too much into head-to-head results. But its still a notable turnaround for a candidate who in June led Bush in the same poll 40%-37%, and who counts among her top allies former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, whose Twitter photo shows her standing with the former first lady.

(154 posts)That may be part of it, but I think it is genuine frustration with the business as usual, establishment politics HRC represents.
I think when people see her political history they view her as a flag bearer of the old guard that wants to uphold the status quo regardless of how much she "evolves."
For a different view on the candidate see: https://solidarity-us.org/node/4389
I am afraid that her "evolution" on issues will fall flat if she gets sworn in immediately. I suspect she will perpetuate the neoliberal agenda consistent with the Clinton / Bush Dynasty (endless war, TPP, deregulation of wall street, drug war etc.). We would, in that future, likely continue to sacrifice freedoms for "security" in our ongoing confidence game of modern "governance" (aka Oligarchy).
To me, whatever she "evolves" on is pandering to the populism that is surging simply for the votes.
We are certainly in a mess, and more of the same is not going to help.
If a republican in the clown car (or *shudders* Trump) takes the White House in 2016, maybe we will hit rock bottom faster?
People might be forced to actually take action then.

(23,321 posts)With the open primary, Republicans could vote for Wallace in droves. Especially since the Republican party had no real contests going on.
It's one theory of the strange Wallace win. There are other theories.
