Boehner: 'Disappointed' By Ruling, But 'All Human Beings Are Created Equal'
Source: TPM
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said Friday in a statement that while all human beings are created equal by God he was disappointed by the Supreme Courts decision to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states.
Boehners comments referenced the Courts decision on gay marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges.
All human beings are created equal by God and thus deserve to be treated with love, dignity and respect. I am, however, disappointed that the Supreme Court disregarded the democratically-enacted will of millions of Americans by forcing states to redefine the institution of marriage. My views are based on my upbringing and my faith. I believe that marriage is a sacred vow between one man and one woman, and I believe Americans should be able to live and work according to their beliefs.

Sad week for Republicans and religious extremists, Dixie Swastika lovers, enhanced punishment lovers, racists and bigots and Fox....very, very sad.
And if a Iran nuclear peace deal is sealed over the weekend....oh, boy!

I am glad for the SCOTUS ruling, but they gutted my Civil Rights, so my enthusiasm is muted.

(4,711 posts)This loss may be the most liberating thing to happen to Republican politicians in a decade. If it becomes a non-topic, they can stop having to kowtow to bigots over it and MAYBE stop alienating otherwise winnable voters. At least, if I were a strategist for them, that's what I'd hope. (But, you know, fuck 'em regardless.)
