RNC Statement on King v. Burwell Ruling
Source: Republican National Committee
"Todays ruling makes it clear that if we want to fix our broken healthcare system, then we will need to elect a Republican president with proven ideas and real solutions that will help American families," said Chairman Priebus. "Hillary Clinton supports big government mandates and expanding the governments reach into our healthcare system, maneuvers that have made our healthcare system worse off. What you will not hear from Democrats today is any information on how to make healthcare more affordable at a time when premiums are getting more expensive."

Calling on ALL DEMS - "then we will need to elect a Democratic President to HOLD ACA in place..to preserve healthcare for millions" - something Repubs fail to do - IMPROVE ACA - do I see Universal Healthcare on the horizon?

(6,409 posts)Let's take away the only vestige of a system we have. Let's go back to the good old free market. Let's take health insurance away from the millions of people who didn't have any until Obamacare. Because it will make you happy to see people die.

(79 posts)Thank Ganesha Elephant Faced Son of Shiva! This is the GOOD Elephant. Not thaat there are any bad ones. Only Rinsed Penisheads.
My husband Hank Porter died on Aug. 24 2011 due to pre-existing conditions and being denied health insurance. He was a "Down Winder" raised in Salt Lake City exposed to the atomic bombing drift. Both his mother and father had cancer also.
He was denied health insurance because he had a Polio as a child and had a spine that looked like a space alien's in ex-rays. He had one of the last Herrington Rods put in. He also contracted Hep C from blood transfusions during that surgery. No one wanted to insure him.
By the time the tumor was found it was metastasized and he was done. He was diagnosed in June and gone by August.
He was 64. The last movie we watched together was The Bucket List. It greatly helped us.
He was one of the ones ACA could have saved.
I have shared this story with President Obama.
They say they are working on a memorial in DC for all those who died due to greed and stupidity. And cold hearted selfishness.
Thank what ever Gods we have including his Noodley Magnifiscence. Hank was a devotee and Pastafarian among other things.

(1,150 posts)Wow - I would expect that the Republicans would want to engage in heavy-duty health care reform, then. I don't recall a single Republican talking about a 'broken' health care system prior to the ACA, so I guess the way to fix this broken system must be to go right back to the pre-ACA world.
Back then, it was working perfectly, health care costs weren't increasing, it was really inexpensive to buy private insurance, but most people had it really, really cheaply through employers, people who couldn't afford it received generous assistance from the government and doctors/clinics/hospitals didn't have to absorb the costs of chasing down non-paying patients, so-called 'pre-existing conditions,' which most people had in some form, didn't affect their ability to either get health insurance or be covered under their insurance plans, and we had one of the healthiest populations in the world....
