Rubio Puts Financially Troubled Home On The Market For A Loss
Source: TPM
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and former Rep. David Rivera (R-FL) have put the troubled Florida house they co-own on the market for less than they originally paid for it, according to a Politico report.
The house has been a source of embarrassment for Rubio since he purchased it with Rivera in 2005 while they both served in the Florida state legislature. The home faced potential foreclosure during Rubio's 2010 Senate bid, and was then flooded during a tropical storm, according to Politico. The house was listed last week for $10,000 less than Rubio and Rivera originally paid for it.

According to Politico, a Rubio spokesman denied that the senator put the house on the market for political reasons. And sources gave Politico conflicting descriptions of Rubio's relationship with Rivera. Some said that the two are still close, while others said that Rubio is trying to move on with his political career.
The house may not sell before the 2016 election, and may force Rubio to account for his personal financial troubles if he decides to run for President. Rubio got into hot water in for using a Florida Republican Party charge card for personal expenses while he served in the Florida legislature. Rubio said that he repaid the party for all personal purchases.

Rubios House of Horrors
Politico looks at a house jointly owned by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and scandal-plagued ex-Rep. David Rivera (R-FL).
In many ways, it has been a house of horrors for Rubio, a financial and political liability heading into the 2016 election. While he and Rivera were state legislators, they paid way too much for it in 2005, only to see it go embarrassingly into foreclosure for a spell during Rubios 2010 Senate race Now, the three-bedroom property stands as a stubborn symbol of both a politically problematic friendship and lingering questions about Rubios personal finances, which dogged him on the campaign trail in 2010 and may do so again.

(1,957 posts)Any of us who has bought or sold homes in the 2000's is well aware of what's been happening to the personal home market and the traditional savings accounts.
The only thing going for home ownership is that it's cheaper than an apartment and you might break even if you put in some sweat equity and the bottom doesn't fall out of the neighborhood.
The money you save in rent will go to the realtor.
Looking at homes now...these people are crazy. Why would I pay top dollar for a 15 yo top load washing machine?
Forgot to add -- and it's the republican idea of taking all the inherent value in the middle class and giving it to the thieves that caused it.
F' Rubio.
