New Evidence Cited in Secret Service Prostitution Inquiry

Source: NY Times

The Secret Service has uncovered evidence that all 11 members under investigation for alleged misconduct with prostitutes in Colombia before President Obama’s arrival there for a summit meeting last weekend had taken women to their rooms, Representative Peter T. King, the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said on Tuesday.

Investigators for the Secret Service in Colombia are seeking to interview the women, Mr. King said, adding that the agency had copies of their identification cards, which they were required to leave with the hotel before going into the rooms. He said that additional Secret Service members had been dispatched to Colombia to conduct interviews and that the Colombian government was “not being unhelpful” with the investigation.

“The 11 agents are having different recollections about what happened or are not telling the truth,” said Mr. King, who was briefed on the investigation on Tuesday morning by the head of the Secret Service, Mark J. Sullivan.

According to Senator Susan Collins of Maine, the senior Republican on the Homeland Security Committee, who was also briefed on the investigation by Mr. Sullivan, about 20 women were brought into the hotel, and some of them ended up with military members. She said she had pressed the Secret Service to find out who the women were and whether they had ties to groups hostile to the United States.

Note to the Obama administration: Hire a new head of the Secret Service, one that isn't a Bush holdover.

Which of course totally blindsided the SS agents, they are completely unused to dealing with prostitutes who actually have rights that are defended by the police..

11 Secret Service Agents along with military personnel just decide to start seeing prostitutes. I will bet this has been going on for quite some time if the truth is ever known.

so when the SS and military guys tried to stiff the women, they went to the police with their complaint.

These guys have probably gotten away with not paying in the past but since prostitution is illegal the women had no recourse in trying to collect. Not so in Colombia

edited for spelling

How many have the Colombia version of "Jane Doe".

Granted, from what I have read prostitution there is legal so they were probably not worried about any legal fall out at the time..but with the international spotlight on this case now, are any of them going to really step forward willingly?
Unless, of course, we start seeing them sell their stories to the highest bidder (tabloids, etc).

I've seen a couple with Hillary, but we need more of them.

What is it about guys in groups? The mob mentality seems to set in and all common sense disappears. Was a romp with some woman worth their careers and possibly their families? Aside from embarrassing the president and the country. I didn't hear about similar incidents with the security details of the 32 other nations who attended this conference.

Total asinine behavior!!! It also begs the question of how often has this happened before.
