Alabama Senate passes anti-abortion constitutional amendment
The Alabama Senate has passed a proposal to declare the right to life for the unborn in the state Constitution.
Supporters say it's important to have in place in the event that the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.
The proposed amendment declares and affirms that it's the policy of the state to recognize and support the rights of the unborn, including the right to life.
It declares that nothing in the state Constitution secures or protects the right to an abortion.
