Do you think Trump will get away with it?With each day , I feel we are getting closer to a dystopian society.. Where we will be like district 13 in hunger games. Trump feels confident in subverting the truth.. Mueller can investigate all he wants ...Trump cant be touched and he will pardon everyone else. Mueller cant do jack shit if Trump has Congress on his side. All talk of NY attorney general going after Trump isnt serious. He has already started campaining for 2018. Trump loves to campaign. Its a lot more fun than governing. Expect him to unleash a torrent of hatred and nastiness .. He will continue his successful strategy of Divide and Conquer.. Which coupled with the systemic advantage that Republicans have in terms of districting and an Improving economy (thanks Obama) may be sufficient for Republicans to keep the house and senate. Trump is about get away with collusion and possibly money laundering /Tax evasion. Republicans dont mind any of this as long as it help them stay in power. Dark days indeed.

We desperately need to retake the House AND the Senate to save our country. It's a tall order.

Yes!
Seriously, my thoughts about this go back and forth - but every day that Mueller is left unfired and on the job is a good day with hope for a good outcome. |

5. Just watch his appearance.
I don't think he's looking well. His grooming has declined, his speech is slurred, and he seems to be gaining weight. Those aren't signs of confidence.

8. There's no expectation of instant gratification, where Karma is concerned (IMHO, of course)
I believe that this degree of malfeasance is going to generate some spectacular backlash. It may not be what I wish for, but anything that results in the ruination of the trump* brand will suffice.
I may be delusional but I do take great comfort in my belief that nobody ever really "gets away" with anything. There is always a consequence, whether we see it, or not. |

12. Unfortunately .. I think, at least in this world, people who get ahead
are the ones who get away it.
I am on the wrong side of 40 ..and have come to the conclusion that playing by rules are for suckers. People I personally who have the millions are also the types to have zero tax years thanks to creative accountants and tax havens. Agreed that the business they built had to be profitable - but still it helped to show fake expenses to 'shell contracting companies' based in India and moving money through multiple entities. They have always have gotten with away it. |

17. Getting ahead, but at what price?
I know it's sometimes not very satisfactory to not actually see people pay for their behavior but that doesn't mean that, on some level, it's not happening.
That kind of greed and avarice eats away at their very essence and the vigilance they have to maintain generally sends them on to their "way", earlier rather than later. And those who live a long life are miserable. Think about how many of these people get taken down - and quite often from the one direction they haven't been keeping an eye on, or the one person they never expected would turn on them. |

10. I believe Trump fully walks on any election related issues.
He will spend the rest of his short life, after leaving the Presidency, fending off money laundering/tax charges.

11. Something really important has to change.
And it's not going to come from the Republican Party. They're trying desperately to hammer a Republic into an oligarchy before their racist voters are overwhelmingly outnumbered--a demographically inevitable change within the next ten years.
Whatever we're doing should have that in the forefront of our minds: Republicans haven't been able to win a Presidential election without stealing it since 2000. They've been behaving like outnumbered criminals for all of the 21st Century. We should expect them to double down on that, soon, and permanently. We should also understand that the people who plan the Republican agenda are fully aware that their policies are going to impoverish and kill off their own constituents. So whatever the Republican plan is obviously accounts for that as well. I can't see any way to deal with that problem and still hold open elections. Can any of you? |

15. I was stunned to hear Joan Walsh on MSNBC the other day, use the words, "if we have an election"
in regards to 2018. People don't want to believe it can happen here, even as it is happening before their eyes. My non-political friends were all fired up after the Con's inauguration. They went to the two big marches. They went to postcard parties & wrote to Speaker Ryan. Four months later, they couldn't be bothered to call their senators about the ACA. Two of my friends that I hike with asked me to not talk politics, cuz they are "just so sick of it."

13. He's damned close.
Who will stop him? The dems have been neutered. Hell, we're going after our own! Mueller needs the GOP controlled Congress to do anything. The population believes It Can't Happen Here. If he strokes out, which I hope happens on national TV, we're still stuck with Pence/Ryan/McConnell & a GOP controlled government. Some think when the tax cuts pass the GOP will cut him loose. I don't agree. GOP leadership is in the Russian thing up to their necks & if the Con goes down, they might go down, too. So, I don't think we're coming back.

16. He has one major advantage going for him
He is lazy, disinterested in details and does not seem to email.
As a result, there is a possibility that all of this happened without being copied directly to him. Even if it is pretty clear that Hope Hicks and others were coordinating with him, he might escape the direct smoking gun. With Republicans in charge everywhere that matters, this might be enough. |

18. Short answer to your question: No
I honestly do not think Trump and his band of enablers are going to get away with it. There are too many wrong-doings, too much sloppiness and arrogance aboard the Trump train and from what I'm reading too many communications between the Trump team and nefarious agents that were recorded and archived by our security community. Not only by our IC but agencies of our allies, none of whom like Trump or his cultist admirers.
I think the Administration is ultimately toast. It remains to be seen how much damage they do on their way out. If we learn anything, let it be this: democracies are more fragile than they look and can be compromised by those who do not give a hoot about anything or anyone beyond themselves, their power and their assets. If we as a society manage to survive the havoc, we need to draw down on a simple lesson: Democratic societies can only thrive if its citizens are awake and politically engaged. No more sleep-walking. Otherwise, we will find monsters under the bed. And they will try to eat us. |

The words of the song big yellow taxi comes to mind
Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'Till it's gone Our democracy that many have fought and died for is treated so casually by people who have no clue. |

21. NO...
Something deep inside me, says NO!! Today, some numbers out about the new tax plan..Most people see it as a gift to the rich and wealthy... Trump can lie all he wants
...................................but the Emperor Has No Clothes................................................ Most people in the U.S.A. do not believe his lies, no matter what he says....................... Further, the number of true believers is shrinking...ever so slowly.. and it will continue to shrink. Why? He lies all the time, non stop..... One of the ideas we teach our children, when they are young, is not to lie to parents...The parents need to take care of the children, so we need to know the truth. In most places, that is also taught in schools, public and private. We all agree, Trump lies all the time to everyone. That goes against almost all of us. All the time??? yes, all the time...I believe Trump will go down, for lying .. All the time |

Trump has struck the racist chord at the center of this nation nice and loud, and the deplorables and evangelicals are all going to hum along to his tune. |
