(2,559 posts)Jones' senate win is a great start for that. Now the GOP Senate majority is just 51-49. Another two Dem senate wins, and Trump will be stymied for the rest of his term, if he lasts that long in office.
And don't forget, the Dems could score major gains in the House as well, as the electorate wakes up the the con job in the White House.

(2,559 posts)The House impeaches, forwards the charges to the Senate, the Senates decides whether or not to convict and remove the impeached one from office.
Clinton was impeached and remained in office, as I recall...

(2,559 posts)...because impeachment is the responsibility of the House of Representatives, not the Senate. The Dems could have a 100% majority in the Senate, but Trump won't get impeached until there's a clear majority of pro-impeachment Dems in the House (although, who knows, if Trump keeps up his disgusting behavior, he might get some pro-impeachment votes out of GOP representatives as well...)
