I'm in a different blue state with a few red districts that should be in jeopardy of being flipped. We don't have state income tax, but we do have some of the higher property taxes in the country. We have an urban/rural split here like many areas. I'm hoping we can flip a couple of districts here. I know at least one R is retiring this cycle.

6. Safe R Seat (R+8)
Mon Dec 11, 2017, 01:36 PM
Dec 2017

Trump won by 10 pts.

There are currently 36 competitive seats and 25 more on the cusp. Putting money into a Safe seat just because you don't like the Republican is a bad strategy to win back the House.

I don't know what the citizenship rates are for resident Latinos in the district. That said, I think the demography looks good for an anti-Trump, anti-incumbent campaign: https://statisticalatlas.com/congressional-district/California/District-22/Race-and-Ethnicity.

I'm hoping that the results of most special elections, even the ones Democrats lost, continue showing a tidal shift toward the Democrats. It's true they lost the special elections to replace the swamp creatures the pResident moved into his administration but the winning margins for Republicans shrunk by around 14 pts ( https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/democrats-are-overperforming-in-special-elections-almost-everywhere/ ).

Look the ocean is rising!

quickly forget how many Dems have won rural red seats with much worse odds very recently. The only way to win as a national party again is to pop that bubble and campaign in places where they still eat gluten and bacon and don't do much yoga.

and Dems just won a US Senate seat in Alabama, a state where people get a cup of bone broth the old fashioned way instead of buying it from the corner popup.

Races are competitive. You should know about them. Step out of Brooklyn every now and then.

Nunes needs to be WAVED good-bye. As far as being a shoo-in based on past election results, the late ex-Speaker Tom Foley could have provided some perspective on that topic.

seeking to challenge incumbent Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) in the midterm elections for his 22nd Congressional District seat, according to a Tuesday Fresno Bee report.

Andrew Janz, an attorney who prosecutes violent crimes, criticized Nunes for his connection to President Trump and his controversial decision as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to brief the White House on its independent investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.

He said the news about Nunes inspired him to run for the seat. “I’m not a politician; I’ve never considered running for Congress until recently," he said according to the Bee. "Most of the stuff in local and national media has pushed me to get involved." ... Janz said he knows how to properly handle classified information. “I deal with confidential information on a daily basis,” Janz told the paper. “I’m in a profession that’s all about ethics.”

“My job is to be an advocate for the people of Fresno County. I’ve worked with countless crime victims, and I get these people justice. It’s my desire to take what I’m doing now as a prosecutor and take that to the voters of the 22nd District,” he said.

Nunes garnered nearly 68 percent of the vote in 2016, beating Democratic candidate Louie Campos in the 22nd District. A slight majority of registered voters in the area reportedly identify themselves as Republicans.

Janz told the paper that despite his political party, he is not the “type of person who votes the party line.”

This was from The Hill in April. Janz is obviously getting his name out. 68% voted Republican when only a slight majority are registered Repubs? Wonder if the idiots are liking what they chose behind Door #3 and how many of them claimed to be Democrats as they did it.

They take a percentage of every donation, plus they always want a "tip". I want every cent of my donation to go to Janz. Not that I have anything against Act Blue, but that percentage out of every donation (hidden in the fine print) thing bothers me.

Just like some past 'uglican pest terminators that get carried away with their "missions".

Why does that party attract 90%+ of the preverts? (Just to leave a few % to the rest of the parties.)

Someday, statisticians will be able to prove the correlation == causality; especially in the case of narrow-minded, ignorant, 'uglicans. Born stupid, vote stupid.
