that announcements like these usually end up going nowhere. There have been "breakthroughs" in recent years in Alzheimers, Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, and a slew of others, yet all those are still rampant.

Unfortunately, there are significant secondary gains for those making these announcements. But it would be great if really true.

It takes a lot of patience to communicate with him, but underneath the disease he is a bright and interesting guy. He travels the world a lot with the help of his daughter and is loves to show me the pictures.

For the sake of him and his family, I hope this research pans out.

6. This is a treatment, not a cure. If it pans out, it is needed for life.

The disease is thought to be caused by a defective protein made in one's body. The drug prevents the protein from being assembled, but the body will continue to try making the protein, requiring more drug.

If this drug was discovered in the US, it would become a Shkreli special - hand over you family's wealth and everything the next 3 generations will make or you die. Likely, it will be lobbied into "foreign made drug limbo". I predict an exodus of Huntington's families from the US.

Had a friend whose mother died of Huntington’s, it’s passed on, so she had her tubes tied. It so affected her knowing what lay ahead. Horrible disease.

Just to have an effective treatment, one that could bring about remission would be an incredible advance.
