Remember the names

Here is the full list of those that have called for Franken to resign:

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/06/full-list-senators-call-for-al-franken-to-resign-282175

Remember these names.

Also remember these names. The ones that didn't call for Al Franken to resign.

Democratic senators who had not yet called on Franken to resign:

Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut,
Ben Cardin of Maryland,
Chris Coons of Delaware,
Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada,
Tim Kaine of Virginia,
Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota,
Joe Manchin of West Virginia,
Bob Menendez of New Jersey,
Brian Schatz of Hawaii,
Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire,
Chris Van Hollen of Maryland and
Mark Warner of Virginia.

Coons, Shaheen and Schatz couldn't comment due to the pending investigation before the Ethics Committee. This article was written on 12/6 so if there are any on the "didn't call for resignation" list that ultimately asked him to resign please update

3. I was gonna..

go name by name from the article until I looked to the end. It wasn't something I'd seen on TV. I hadn't seen CNN interviewing Tim Kaine or Mark Warner or Catherine Cortez Masto about why they didn't ask Franken to resign. I think I might had seen Amy Klobuchar asked something about Al Franken's accusations but not sure and not sure what she said.

So presumably he understand that accusations doesn't mean it actually happened.

when you didn't think you did anything wrong but someone (or a few someones) is accusing you of something and you try to apologize even if you don't think you did anything and everyone wants to run you off as some kind of pervert, you want to remember who had your back, who wasn't accusing you and who folded like a cheap suit.

10. If your senator is not ones of these..

you could support a primary challenger in another state. You could send money or phone bank.

This isn't just about Franken. This is about due process and supporting Democrats. This is about giving people the benefit of a doubt.

I've heard people say Franken admitted to wrongdoing - he did not.

He apologized if he offended anyone . That's not the same as admitting to wrongdoing.

You really want to be part of a party that theirs you to the lions at the first hint of trouble???

With freinds like that...

This was fucking stupid all the way around and it has cost us any shot at a majority in 2018, and most likely 2020 as well....we have more Senate seats up for grabs next year and it was always going to be tough to hold them, now thanks to Gillibrand and her Presidential ambitions, we have no chance...

47. He's apologized for crossing the line

And yes it actually is admitting to wrongdoing. You can say it was unintentional wrongdoing, but that doesn't actually negate the underlying problem, especially given that it is part of a pattern.

"I'm someone who, you know, hugs people," Franken said. "I've learned from these stories that in some of these encounters I have crossed the line for some women."

Another quote:

"I am ashamed of that photo," Franken said. "You know she didn't have any ability to consent. She had every right to feel violated by that photo."

24. Because....

Because they are not leaders (good to know, if any of them run for President);
Because they possibly fell for a Republican orchestrated take down of a strong Senator who made headway in the Russian investigation;
Because they don't have good judgment;
Because they put themselves above the needs of their party and the country.

This was a baaaaad decision, so it speaks volumes about those who made it, or who jumped on the bandwagon to go along to get along. I also personally believe it was based in part on jealousy, and to get Franken out of the way, since one or more of them plan to run for President, and Franken was sucking up all the limelight (he's very popular..and there have been calls for him to run for President, which he has stated he had no intention of doing so).

There is not a true leader among them.

Can you imagine Obama jumping on that bandwagon? Not in a million years. He would have given a speech about the seriousness of it all, women deserve to heard, but that there's an ethics investigation process, and in our country, our Senator have a right for these charges to be reviewed, and to at least hear Senator Franken out.

if a senator falls for faux news, alt right trap, there is no chance in the world he/she will survive runnning against their propaganda machine in 2020 which will be much bigger by then. This was a great test to unmask poltiicians who we thought were trustworthy and had our backs. I am mostly dissapointed in my senator Kamala, she would have to do something major for me to regain respect.

36. +1. ESPECIALLY....

when Gillibrand says something like, "People are saying but Franken isn't accused of this or that, he's being accused of something less serious. I think that is not the discussion we should be having, differentiating between the kinds of accusations."

But that's EXACTLY the sort of discussion we should be having. When someone says Franken putting his hand on her waist & grabbing some flesh lends credibility to the other claims, and is groping...we definitely need to be having a discussion on what IS groping, sexual harassment, and abuse of power. That is far different from Matt Lauer locking his door and telling someone he has power over to give him a blow job. Or Roy Moore taking the clothes off a 14 year old and fondling her.

There IS a difference.

My God, they are acting like he whipped out his dick, or paraded around in the office with an open bathrobe, or threatened to fire an underling for not sleeping with him.
These were supposedly fans, who requested a photo because they liked him, why else ask for a photo? He thought he was with friends, he likes to hug. They are crucifying him for being too friendly.
It’s treating women like we are helpless infants who can’t slap away a hand, or say “knock it off”.
Supposed to believe a hand on your butt is so traumatic that 14 years later you take down a public servant? This is insane.

TWITTER: Sexual harassment is unacceptable. This morning I spoke with Senator Franken and, as you know, he will be making an announcement about his future tomorrow morning. I am confident he will make the right decision.

FACEBOOK: Today Senator Franken acknowledged that he could no longer serve in the Senate and resigned. As he and I discussed yesterday, this is the right decision. Senator Franken has worked for years on behalf of the people of Minnesota and he has been a leader on issues that are fundamental to Americans’ lives, including education, privacy, healthcare and mental health. He has been a friend to me and to many in our state.

Step 2: go to the FEC website (www.fec.gov) and look up my contributions for BOTH Klobuchar and Franken.

I personally thought Franken could weather the storm until the last accusation, and I concurred with the decision by the Senate women to ask him to stand down on the grounds that his effectiveness going forward would be damaged.

I supported Klobuchar's decision to ask him to step down (privately or otherwise); the only reason I brought her up is the suggestion by the OP that she and a handful of other are in a special (supposedly "pro-Franken" category.

60. Ben Cardin supported Franken stepping down post hoc...

Cardin Statement on Senator Franken’s Resignation

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), released the following statement in response to Senator Al Franken’s announcement that he would resign in the coming weeks.

“Senator Franken has done what Americans expect from their public servants – he put his constituents, the people he was elected to serve, first. I took the allegations against Senator Franken very seriously. As he said, ‘all women deserve to be heard and their experiences taken seriously.’ The women of this country deserve to be heard – not only those who garner spotlights and headlines, but all women. All women deserve respect. I hope that other men who have acted inappropriately against women, some in elected office and others hoping to be there some day, will take heed of Senator Franken’s actions and also take responsibility for their own transgressions.”
