A friend who is a tax law professor at a prestigious law school had this to say today:

"My advice to law students: If this tax bill becomes law, become tax lawyers.

The bill restructures significant portions of the tax code without any thought to how the tax system works as a whole. It will be a HUGE economic boon to the lawyers who first develop the tax shelters and exploit the loopholes created by this lack of thoughtfulness.

Almost makes me want to go back to practice "

(that smiley was ironic, trust me)

2. This is scary.

Republicans can't govern. We went through 4 job losses after the economic crash and are now feeling like we are steady again. I don't know how we'll survive another crash. With them in charge, it's inevitable!

3. Really?!

I just went back to school to change careers, majoring in political science. I thought about law school but every article I read says stay away from law.
This makes me think twice.

4. I should tell my nurse daughter to go to law school

She just graduated in August. She currently works in a mental health unit in a hospital (lots of folks on Medicaid). Twenty beds and they are always turning patients away.

I am thinking the RN jobs of the future are going to be in the euthanasia clinics.

5. The Tax Scam, the procedure and process, etc.

is the most blatant form of corruption in our recent history. One of the speakers during the TrumpTaxScam.org and NotOnePenny call today said he has been all over the world and has worked in government his whole life and has never seen anything like this during his lifetime. It is NOT OVER! Keep calling, use social media, and stay energized and focused. There are a few weeks left and the House and Senate can be swayed if we keep the pressure up. Booker, Sanders, Indivisible, MoveOn, etc. are working hard this weekend and want us to be catalysts in the grass roots efforts to make sure the public knows what the bill is going to do to them. They said, "The bill is not a win, it IS a disaster!". In fact, since it was passed two days ago new info is coming out and one difference is that the deficit will be 1/2 trillion MORE than they said it would be when they voted on it. Keep resisting!

9. My wife is a well-know Tax Lawyer on Wall Street...

She was busy working on issues related to the tax bill through Thanksgiving. If it passes, she expects to be busier.

(she think's it's horrible legislation)

11. My husband is a CPA specializing in taxes shut

And he totally shut down my T.Rumpunista parents today. Pulled out their taxes, along with the stats on the proposed bill and gave them a roundabout figure on how much more they would be paying. They are wealthy retirees. Then he explained how their beloved grandson ( my son who is applying to Ph.D programs next yr ) would have to pay taxes on the free tuition and stipend, amongst other things. They stammered and mumbled something about how it didn't pass yet.

But they still blamed Obama when I brought up the trillion dollar debt.
