I do not like the term "antifa". The RW has co-opted the made up word to imply violence.

What antifa' is about is being antifascist. Anti-fascists are against fascism and it's' 'Nazi and white supremacist "ideas". Why does 'antifascism' need to be shortened? Short and sweet enough already.

The importance of this distinction was front and center in the Inauguration protest trials.

From HuffPost:

"Prosecutors, defense attorneys and Judge Leibovitz also engaged in a lengthy discussion outside of the presence of the jury about the use of the term “antifa,” which defense attorneys worried would give negative connotations to the jury.

Judge Leibovitz was worried that simply saying antifa was short for anti-fascist would take away from the meaning of the term. “I assume if you polled the 15 people in the jury box, they’re not too crazy about fascism either,” she said. She ended up telling the jury that antifa was short for anti-fascist and that such a term should not be thought of as
indicator of violence."

1. I agree. I think the whole concept of such a group is made up by rightwingers.

I can't believe that people who support democratic structures would also support a group that calls itself "antifa."

We who believe in democracy are pro-democracy. We should leave organizing under the name of anti anything, even Fascism, to the negative right wing.

We are positive. Antifa is a negative word. I don't like it at all.

Let's be pro-fairness, pro-democracy, pro-equal-opportunity, pro-education-for-all, etc.

No "anti" stuff. Please.

up a whole new word!
Folks in Europe have no problem knowing exactly what antifascism means. No point responding to fascism by throwing up peace signs.

4. I noticed the prosecution tried to hide the name of Project Veritas. Unbelievable. At least

the fascist legal.beagles got turfed on that lame try. Now defence can adduce evidence of the video makers reputation. May not be pretty.

Careful what you wish for beagles.

6. For some shitty reason, the RW succeeds in their warping the language.

From the Joseph McCarthy-era genesis of "Democrat Party," to the demonization of the term, "liberal," they maddeningly tend to stick in the communal cultural lexicon. "Pro-life" is another-- it's anything but pro-life.

It may be that the RW's success actually comes from their dependence on fear and anger in their messaging, two negative emotions that can be easily transmitted. The fact that they have an entire 24/7/365 "news" network to spread their memes works for them as well.

Since they control everything there isnt a boogeyman in the gov't so they had to find something to scare the masses and antifa fit the bill.
