Al Franken should resign, why again?

The just released pics of Leeann Tweeden's own demeanor and behavior on the tour are surely enlightening. I can see exactly why Sen Franken issued his sincere apology and Ms. Tweeden hastily accepted that apology. As far as I'm concerned, Al should keep his seat and this matter is over.

That is, of course, they're going bring on a Senate ethics investigation on members before they became Senators... Oh, yeah, go ahead and establish THAT precedent. I can just imagine how much fun that will be in the future.

Because, after all that's come out so far, if it will be good enough for Al Franken, it'll be good enough for (Insert Any Other Republican Senator's Name Here.)

I hesitated to post this, but I was wondering why there were calls for ethics violations and a resignation. I think had this allegation been current, multiple women coming forward, or her allegation been rape or something like that I could see that. But 1 woman comes forward about unwanted kissing and hands on her chest over a decade ago and someone is supposed to instantly resign? Start doing that and i could see false allegations starting to pop up.

This is a one-off matter where the accuser has accepted the alleged perpetrator’s apology and said she doesn’t want to see him retire. It’s a serious issue but not one which shocks the conscience in the manner of child molestation or murder. I can’t see why Franken - why anyone under such circumstances - would be asked to resign ; if anything, this is exactly the sort of thing which should be left to voters to decide.

If he does have to resign, then Trump, who faces sex harassment and assault accusations from over a dozen women, should be forced to resign too!

that the day before she went public, Republican party dirty trickster Roger Stone publicized that Franken was going to be accused of sexual misconduct the following day.

And let's remember that Tweeden is a Trump supporter and frequent guest on Fox News.

So I think that the senate should conduct a thorough investigation of the matter. Interview everyone on the USO tour, including service people and photographers. Let's get the true story. All we have right now are suspicious accusations.

This was a coordinated hit-job.

Bring on the ethics investigation. Only way to get to the bottom.

They consist of the following:
-A Comic
-Sexuality in the form of models, starlets, etc.
-Music. Sometimes the singer is a name.
-Adult humor, usually using said models or starlets as good natured participants.

Bob Hope did a mildly blue act most of the time with his female counterparts. Robin Williams was possibly even bluer than Franken. This is what these shows are. There is no thinking. There is a good beat, happy music, raucous and dirty humor, and PG-13 sex.

That’s the way they have always been done. For people to be freaking out about something like this is very strange and is very telling about how completely disconnected so many people are from the military side of our country.

He knew the truth would come out - that all of this happened in the course of a typically raunchy USO show where there was a lot of grab-assing and grinding going on, with Ms. Tweeden in the middle of it. And, as I've posted elsewhere, it also explains why these accusations weren't produced during the course of Norm Coleman's incredibly sleazy mud-slinging during the 2008 senate campaign against Franken. Coleman had the full financial backing of the GOP, its PACs, and the help of Karl Rove, and they did their best to dig up all the dirt they could find - which consisted of nothing but some dirty jokes Franken wrote when working for SNL. No sexual misconduct, no affairs, no Leeann Tweeden.

Ethics investigation? Please proceed, GOPers.

This is 100-percent deflection...it's becoming more and more apparent that every male GOP-er has several sexual skeletons in his closet.

"Oh noes! How can we ever get people to stop talking about this?"
'I know...let's find the cleanest Democrat we can who's still in office and nail him with a sexual harassment charge. Then we can prove both sides do it.'

I'm a little shocked about this, though...why they haven't tried going after Obama for pussygrabbing or walking around a mall in a trenchcoat, I do not know.

The naive premise that there's no double standard when it comes to the GOP, and they totally play fair! So it must be that we're just being hypocrites and slut-shamers when we point that out. That's the reason we don't believe her. All the other shit that the GOP pull all the time is just a coincidence. Totally irrelevant. See, it gets a little messy because when the GOP are the perps, our side can all believe the victims together without questioning each other's motives. The facts are the facts! The fact we all benefit politically, well. That's nothing a little false equivocating can't fix to set us apart so we can wag those fingers with impunity!
