(6,252 posts)This is his one shot to be a U.S. Senator. All those years grandstanding from the bench were leading to this. He couldn't care less about the party.

(2,120 posts)... this fucking asshole is in it to lose it. He doesn't care about decency, party or country. He only cares about being elected Senators and if he can find enough soulless fucking shitbags to achieve that he will.
Look how he responded to the allegations against him: "Oooh, I'm being picked on! I must be righteous and decent if the left is attacking me since they're so scared of me!"
No, it couldn't be he's disgusting shitstained human garbage.
Fuck this asshole. One way or another, he's going down.

(22,031 posts)But I doubt it. Today's Republicans are beyond shame. Just look at the excuses that are being offered in defense of Moore! Some jackass suggested that Moore's behavior was no worse than the misdemeanor of stealing a lawnmower!
These people are in the sub-sub-basement of our moral code.

(82,849 posts)If you remember the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman," Richard Gere plays Zach Mayo, who is trying to get through naval aviator school. Lou Gossett, Jr. plays tough-as-nails drill sergeant Foley who doesn't like Mayo and takes his role as gate-keeper very seriously. After catching Mayo out, he puts him through a weekend drill session designed to break him, demanding that Mayo quit. When Mayo absorbs all the punishment Foley can dish out, Foley tells him he's out anyway.
Broken and sobbing, Mayo screams at Foley not to do it. Mayo says it's because he's got nowhere else to go. Roy Moore is in that forsaken land: He's got nowhere else to go. If he loses this Senate race, the only thing he can possibly hope for will be some wingnut welfare position at Fox or something. But even Fox might balk at hiring a child molester. Moore cannot lose, but he will.

(5,914 posts)Not to mention that now that he's been exposed, the inevitable legal problems are going to drive him directly into poverty/jail. He is literally fighting for survival.

(5,995 posts)They'll have to dredge up every skeevy molester image possible to drill it into their heads that Moore "likes little girls, just ask Momma!".
Am sure Jones won't want to stoop to the GOP's level, but outside groups, Alabamans for Morality?, should drive it home. The markets aren't that large, so shouldn't be too costly. Problem might be finding media companies that aren't in the GOP's pocket.

(1,517 posts)If Doug Jones could pull this off there would be absolute panic in the Republican Party. Im not sure what it would all lead to but God damn I would enjoy that.

(204 posts)The longer he stays, the worse it's going to get. And the more assured the Dems are of taking that seat.

(16,858 posts)Ive never met a true believer evangelical that admitted wrong, even in the face of overwhelming truth, or backed down from an argument they could not win. Based on the assessment of one of his law professors, Moore falls into exactly those traits.
