Would You Allow Your Kids To Join The Military Knowing There Is A Traitor In The White House?

Just so you know. My wife and I are both Navy veterans. No big deal. We served single enlistments, then went to college and life has been OK. We're both bootstrap kids from difficult backgrounds and the military helped us get somewhere. My wife went on to get a Phd. in psychology. Mostly paid for by the Navy. I talk people into buying things they don't actually need.

We work very hard, but life has been good to us, and the time we spent in the military served us well.

We have two kids. One is a senior in high school, the other is a sophomore. Both boys. The plan was that just like their parents they too would serve, then go to college. It is a family tradition. My father also served in the Navy.

Now we are having second thoughts. What if Trump really is in Putin's pocket? And what if we go to war? Would you feel good about having your kids in a military where the Commander In Chief is possibly the agent of a hostile foreign power? One whose aim would be to kill as many American military people as possible?

We are leaning against it. Neither of us are sure we want our two boys serving in a military run by Donald Trump.

Would you?

9. Exactly.

I have no right dictating to my adult child if they sign up or not. I can strongly protest, bit that's all.

2. I would say no

He's not a man I would trust to keep my child safe. If they want to serve, it's on them to decide but I would encourage tech school for electrician or plumbing

3. Not only no, fuck no. Hes a joke and has no inclination of the gravity of that kind of decision.

He makes very dangerous threats. My sons life will not be subject to the whims of psychotic madman who no one in his party has the balls to confront and dispose of.

4. If I lived in Nazi Germany I wouldn't let my kids join.

In fact I would move the entire family to avoid it. The Moron is almost as crazy as Hitler so I think not serving would be a very smart move.

5. No. I was in in the 80s. Very different.

Stay way the hell away from this fucker. Stick your head out maybe later. Donít be under this guy. I had a problem being under Reagan, but that is quaint now.

6. Encourage them to do so? Hell no.

Yours are of an age where you still have some input -- trust your gut. The USA just got sold out to a guy who wants to bring back the USSR and destabilize all the Western democracies.

We are in deep trouble. I do not trust Cult Trump with the lives of our young people.

The plan is that only if the reinstitute the draft. Then heíll try to get in the Coast Guard, like his grandfather. His cousin leaves tomorrow to head to Ft Dix and Cape May to begin CG basic.

10. At 18, they are adults. They can make their own decisions.

I enlisted in the USAF in 1965, when I was still just 19. My parents did not want me to do that, but I was old enough to decide for myself, so I did. It was a good decision for me at the time.

I think you can advise your children, but they will, in the end, do as they think best.

11. No. I've been discouraging my grandkids from joining for the last few years.

The military doesn't defend the US anymore. They defend corporate wealth and privilege.

Someone (I forgot who; John Stewart or Stephen Colbert) said the USA is just an oil company with an army.
