Why Did Media Overlook September Shooting in Plano, Texas, When Estranged Husband Killed Wife and

Seven Others?

While Sunday's shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, has received wall-to-wall media coverage, there was another mass shooting in Texas in September that received far less attention. In Plano, Texas, a man allegedly killed his estranged wife and her friends in what appears to be the deadliest incident of domestic violence in the town's history. Twenty-seven-year-old Meredith Hight was watching the Cowboys football game with a group of friends and family when her estranged husband reportedly entered her house and opened fire, killing her and seven other adults. The shooter was killed by police. Local news reports Hight had filed for divorce in July. Hight's mother said her daughter "loved hosting friends and families. When the word "domestic violence" is used, the white man is instantly forgiven...couldn't have been helped. Or even if he is just a white man he is instantly forgiven because our society has a special spot for them. All you need to say is that he just lost his job and/or was going through hard times financially...I think the "going through hard times financially" is why there is silence and forgiveness for the Las Vegas shooter. Then there is the white man Christian who kill doctors and people at clinics, they are instantly forgiven.

When will we call it what it is, Domestic Terrorism! When will white men be labeled evil horrible human beings if they decide to kill their families and others. What do you think the men who join Isis are, mentally stable? When anyone decides to kill people, they aren't mentally stable but for white men that is an out, for someone with darker skin they are terrorists.

We need to change the news narrative on white men who kill for the feeling of power and control, they are domestic terrorists.

Sometimes it helps to write it down.
