The Donna Brazile Problem

When Donna Brazile was caught leaking a debate question in the Democratic Primary she was forced to resign her analyst position at CNN. At that point the Democratic Party should have been officially done with her. Instead, she was not only invited back into the Party she was made interim Chairperson of the DNC! Why would we, as Democrats, reward someone caught making such a publicly ethical breach of trust? I honestly don't know the answer.

Today we're facing a situation where this woman is doing a tell-all about the inter-workings of the Party during the 2016 election. It's extremely embarrassing and I don't think it will end with her book. As Chairperson she undoubtedly had many conversations and was privy to confidential information which she can now leak to the public at large over the upcoming months. Why she is doing it, I don't know. Perhaps she's angry and wants some kind of revenge or maybe she sees it as a way of making money.

Perhaps we will learn from this experience. Elevating someone to a high position of power who we know to be ethically challenged is not only foolhardy, it's the wrong thing to do.

Invited back in?

When had she left?

4. Good point

About putting her in charge of the DNC after she was caught leaking the questions.

And her claim she thought she could replace Clinton with Biden is insane, certifiable.

15. It wasn't after.

She was put in charge of DNC before she got caught leaking the questions.

19. You are correct-my time line is wrong.

She was appointed interim chair before the revelation about the leaked question took place. I still find it troubling though that she was kept on as Chair after the leaked question information became public.

5. Yes they should have

And remember how that particular topic was treated here? There was no criticism tolerated at all. Maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere too.

7. Her second round of excerpts sound bitter, retaliatory, chip on the shoulder

That would be besides the long list of things she claims she saw going wrong AT THE TIME, that were the things in the campaign post mortem. But she claims she was so prescient and saw them AT THE TIME but nobody listened to her and everybody dissed her. Yip. Why, she even suggested acupuncture to Hillary two days before she fainted. Yes she did.

9. Regarding the debate question, wasn't the argument that she was acting on behalf of the DNC?

That would have looked even worse. Have her do the dirty work, then fire her for it.

10. I was under the impression she was acting alone.

The DNC could have disavowed any complicity and cut ties with her.

11. There was no conviction, just accusation, her defense was persecution for being female and Christian

And the accusation was based on a Wiki leak, which was attacked by the party as a Russian fabrication.

I am not sure when it beecame accepted as fact. Yesterday perhaps.

13. Can someone explain

where she got the idea that as acting DNC head she could summarily replace the nominee with someone of her choosing?

14. A basic lesson that the Democratic party should learn and

to put a positive spin on what may be Brazile's motive,

"Perhaps we will learn from this experience. Elevating someone to a high position of power who we know to be ethically challenged is not only foolhardy, it's the wrong thing to do."

That statement applies to other Democratic leaders than Brazile. I personally am not and never was a fan of Brazile but I would like the Democratic party to improve and move forward.
