Mitten's campaign peaked today: It's downhill from now on: My theory

Several things came to a head today, and that makes it feel like we turned a corner: Mitt's best days are already behind him.

1. Mittens has been on the ropes trying to regain control of the news cycle, and he’s got nothing but the same old useless foreigner crap
2. Bachmann’s accusation of Islamic connections to Hilary’s assistant, and several top GOP correcting her
3. Rightwing nutcase calling Obama a monster, and then Mittens correcting her
4. GOP telling Mittens to release tax returns
5. Making Rush take something back
6. Talk about the GOP allowing us to raise taxes against the Norquist pledge
7. Rove slaps Romney for whining
8. Mitten's new war on porn (are you kidding?)

One thing is for sure: The GOP, RNC and Mitt & Co. have shot their wad, such as it is. They've got nothing. They're showing desperation without substance. They're not going after Obama on foreign affairs because he got Bin Laden and Kadaffee. They're the largest part of the financial problems, and they're going after medicare and social security.

It's over. They lost the healthcare lawsuit and they're losing the voting purges.

It's over. What say DU?

2. That's the national: Look at the black/latino/female/swing states

He's not necessarily getting the independent vote, so, Obama's really ahead. The news always uses the national number because it keeps the race racy.

4. He's got one other thing going for him--the unstable economy and lack of jobs

sorry, but lets be realistic. That is the only reason it is close--otherwise Obama would be 20-points ahead. We have four more monthly unemployment reports and the final one the Friday prior to the election. If the news remains glum on the job market it will continue to be tight and anything can happen. Voters, no matter what the GOP has done to obstruct, tend to take it out on the incumbent if the economy isn't going well.

all they would do would be to hammer the final nail in the economy's coffin!

attacking the Do-Nothing Congress of 2010 the same way HSTruman gave 'em hell in 1948.

IOW, Obama needs to start framing the narrative with Congress the same way his campaign has framed Romney. To wit, I (Obama) tried to do x, y and z for the economy and was blocked by the Do-Nothing Congress. Attack those assholes and don't let them hide behind Romney's distraction.

Wait for the tsunami of superpac smears in the fall. Most people aren't even paying attention yet. And there is disenfranchisement, diebold, GOP attorneys general in swing states and other dirty tricks. No, no. This is not over, not by a long shot.

We have to fight like we're down a ton, keep the pressure on and step on this bastard's neck. No mercy, no let up.

The President is in position to win in a landslide save for some unforeseen bad economic news which doesn't seem to be coming. (It's always ABOUT to hit but never does).

8. Really? the job news is suddenly going to get rosy?

the reason its as close as it is is because of the economy. That is what people are most concerned with. Yes, the GOP caused a lot of this and have obstructed Obama, but many voters don't pay attention and will take it out on the incumbent. Like all elections (except if there is a war) it comes down to the economy and how people feel things are going.

the entrepreneur speech, and you'd have to think Obama was totally insane to have said what they keep parroting. Other than that, it's all nutty birther crap.

So, IMO, he has made progress in exciting the base. Big whoop. He's severely wounded with independents and Reagan Dems and younger people.

I think Ann Romney's comments, not even included in your list, makes Romney even more of a loser.

sown up. He has the firebreathers (the 20-25% who will vote ABO - Anyone But Obama) and the 2% Mormons (not insignificant).

No way is it over. The superpac money hasn't even started to flow.
