Goddamnit man! I've been coming here daily since W. and I've never seen such ridiculous infighting as we have right now. We should be ashamed of ourselves.
There are goddamn nazis marching in our streets. Let me repeat that. THERE ARE GODDAMN NAZIS MARCHING IN OUR STREETS GODDAMNIT! The majority is trying to raise taxes on the least fortunate among us while simultaneously lowering taxes on the most fortunate. They're doing everything they can to slash Medicare and Medicaid. We have a "president" who doesn't have the brains God gave to my boots who's blundering into what could possibly be WWIII while using signing statements to destroy the environment. And then there's the long list of cabinet appointees who were put there to sabatoge everything their departments where created to do. I could go on and fucking on and fucking on.
But every day, every fucking day, I've got to wade through:
-He doesn't have a (D) after his name! He doesn't have the right to criticize! Blah blah blah.
-Hillary, who bailed out the fucking broke ass DNC rigged the primary. Blah blah blah.
-Why is the male who had the largest grassroots fundraising results speaking at the Womens Conference? Blaha blah blah.
-She's the establishment! Blah blah blah.
-And on and fucking on and fucking on.
Are you kidding me DU? Are you fucking kidding me? It's high fucking time we got our heads out of our asses and focus on the Juggernaut that's trying to turn this country into a Oligarchy. I'm not embarrassed to admit there are people on this board that are smarter than me and we need to focus our attention on what ideas and strategies we can rally around to turn the tide. Every hour we spend fighting each other is another nail in the coffin of these United States. The very stake of our nation is in jeopardy.
P.S. For those that want to reply "I can do two things at once", go fuck yourself. You're part of the problem. The greatest enemy this country has ever encountered is at the healm.
UNITE MOTHERFUCKERS! UNITE! BURY THE GODDAMN HATCHET!
P.P.S.
By all means, attack me and continue fighting each other. It's what I expect. God help us...

... We're STILL refighting/reliving/rehashing the last primary on a daily fucking basis, and there are still groups of persons idolizing/aggrandizing/promoting and demeaning/slandering/insulting persons instead of looking past their personalities and positions (current and previous) to ACTUALLY FOCUS ON THE ISSUES AND SITUATIONS AT HAND.
That's why WE lost, and that is why there is a madman in the White House.

(14,164 posts)And that "unsavory element" is those that see monsters under every bed and use every opportunity to sow discord on here.
DU has pretty strict rules on behaviour. And "kooky extremists" that register and post unsavory content will soon be sent off. I'm sure you've been busy yourself alerting posts left and right. There's a difference between some troll with only a few posts that registers for the sole purpose of disruption and the opinions of seasoned DUers with thousands of posts. You don't seem to differentiate between them other than they don't have the same irrational personal hatred toward one of our most important and popular allies.
And what is most disturbing is that you seem to have zero clue how supporting this kind of disruption and sowing discontent, is counter productive. That you seemingly are proud of it and will continue. Promoting a "you're either with us or with the terrorists" view that reduces discussion into which side you are on, "where everyone stands" is a slap in the face to the notion of open debate. That there are no grey areas, and thus nothing to discuss. No possibility that anyone could ever convince you to let go of bitterness and work together. ie..a critique of the party's strategies because they've been losing so much in the last decade is an "attack", even though other prominent Democrats have said the same thing.
Hillary has/had faults, and Bernie has/had faults. And Hillary has great qualities and a history of working hard in helping Americans in a positive way. And Sanders has great qualities and a history or working hard in helping Americans in a positive way. No that doesn't mean they get off scott free. Hillary and the DNC were at the helm in the campaign. Sanders had no more influence after she adopted some of his platform and he endorsed her. it is only natural, after such a loss, to self examine and critique those that actually were in charge of winning.
Sanders had nothing to do with Hillary losing the general. Even if it was mostly Russia, and GOP voter suppression, the DNC and the Clinton campaign must share at least a part of the blame. Even she admits as much. On Bernies end, of course there are issues that he can be criticized. Like his voting record on protecting gun manufacturers from litigation for instance. But surely all hard work to defeat Trump and promote Democrat policy has to weigh in on his favor over all.
Russian trolls infiltrated Bernie sites to sow discord. Yes.. so how is this the fault of Bernie supporters, of whom there are many on DU still? Most saw through those trolls btw, thanks in large part to Sanders who was perpetually reminding everyone to stay focused on the issues, not on the "damn emails" or any other faux scandal. Any person on those sites that fell for that was most likely a few bricks shy, and never going to vote for Hillary anyways. So that effect was negligible. It seems like just the fact that he exists, that he dared to challenge the Clinton machine, is enough to shower him with derision, and by extension, anyone that dared to think he'd have been a better choice than Hillary.
Let . It . Go .

As for our house, we no longer care what most Democrats do or say about each other, about Hillary and about good Democrats in power. The party has fucked itself over and we will lose in 2018 and in 2020 because of it. You might just as well try nailing Jello to a tree if you think you can unify the Democratic Party. I also will mention that I spent almost 20 years working in the political field beginning as a volunteer, working for the UFW and other orgs as the dreaded community organizer, through running my own business as a campaign manager to even running for the State Assembly. When I was done with my own campaign, I was done. I was so turned off and disgusted by how the Dems would just turn on one another and let the less popular GOP candidate waltz through to victory. I saw it too many times and it still happens.
That's why I live nestled in a small (less than 1000 people) mountain town in northern California in the summer and a sailboat in the Caribbean in the winter. im still with Her. Nothing can make me think less of her. Lots of people out there whom we may have trusted in the past who have ill intentions now or maybe always had ill intentions and are now showing their colors. Nothing will make me leave the party, unless they did a complete switcheroo in ideology like what happened long, long ago. Which of course isnt going to happen in my lifetime.

(2,825 posts)base and voters are registered Democrats. I supported Sen. Sanders during the primary and voted for HRC in the general. I knew what was at stake. I think what goes beyond the B vs. H argument is the fact that the DNC refuses to adopt anything that may have a 'progressive' label to it. They don't get what turns several million voters off is their undying loyalty to the corporatist and Wall St. crowd. I think many would agree that the tenure of Debbie Wasserman Schultz while at the helm of the DNC was a disaster. I haven't heard anything out of Tom Perez that gives me hope that they'll try to at least adopt some of the progressive agenda for the future. That, at least, would be the beginning of the healing.

They are not being reasonable, they are being rebellious. This is a two party system, any 3rd party will doom the Democrats to lose again, when we are on the right side of the issues, compared to the Republicans.

Sometimes, posters say that they just need to back away to save their sanity. You may want to do the same. Take care of yourself and come back when you are ready. This situation can be toxic if you're not mentally/spiritually fortified against the negativity.
I hope you can see past the hurt to see the hopeful things going on. For example, in 2015 during an off season election, Louisiana elected a democratic governor. The first thing Gov. Edwards did was to expand Medicaid. The capitol city of Baton Rouge elected its first female mayor. She ran on a platform that focused extensively on social justice.
Take courage, Glamrock! There are good things going on under the surface. Powerful, results oriented work is being done by the people that have been the rock of the democratic party for the last 50 years. There have always been these divisions throughout our party. We will be okay. I hope that you will continue to stand with us.
