All the RW hysteria over Uranium One is an attempt to discredit the Mueller investigation.

Now I understand why this previously debunked issue is being resurrected from the grave. It's Trump's hail mary pass to try and chop Mueller off at his knees.

Roger Stone believes defunding Mueller isn’t enough. Instead, Stone wants Trump to call for a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton’s role in approving the controversial Uranium One deal that’s been a locus of rightwing hysteria (the transaction involved a Russian state-owned energy firm acquiring a Canadian mining company that controlled a large subset of the uranium in the United States). It’s a bit of a bank shot, but as Stone described it, a special prosecutor looking into Uranium One would also have to investigate the F.B.I.’s role in approving the deal, thereby making Mueller—who was in charge of the bureau at the time—a target. Stone’s choice for a special prosecutor: Rudy Giuliani law colleague Marc Mukasey or Fox News pundit Andrew Napolitano. “You would immediately have to inform Mueller, Comey, and [Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein that they are under federal investigation,” Stone said. “Trump can’t afford to fire Mueller politically. But this pushes him aside.”

I've basically been ignoring the RW lunacy surrounding the matter and didn't put two and two together until I saw it in print.

Suddenly it makes so much sense, and I can't understand why I hadn't heard it mentioned by anyone else before.

I'm glad I read the article. The more we know the more we can counter the RW talking points. Knowledge is power!

is clearly intended as a diversion from the Mueller investigation - particularly anything he thinks will place Mueller and/or Clinton in a bad light. That's just how he rolls. He's playing only to his shrinking base because he doesn't have enough political savvy to realize that he's screwed unless he can expand his base, and he's not even trying to do that. He lets Faux "News" disseminate this crap to its old, racist, angry viewers. Nobody else is buying it.

I just assumed everyone else already knew this information other than myself. Once I read it the article their sudden renewed interest in the deal made so much sense to me.

They're such slimy little worms I should have realized they had some kind of ulterior motive beyond trying to make Hillary seem dirty.
