Who had Dustin Hoffman next?

Dustin Hoffman Sexually Harassed Me When I Was 17

The author, who slapped away the star's butt grabs and laughed off his vulgar language on the set of 1985 TV film 'Death of a Salesman,' still feels conflicted: "I loved the attention. Until I didn't."

1. Man, oh man

It's just an avalanche. Some of the allegations are quite dated, but it's still disgusting to think these male celebrities figured they were untouchable, while perceiving women around them as entirely touchable!

3. The problem with this all is...

How do we know it's true? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. The court of social media isn't exactly something that is always 100% true content.

4. Agreed.

Iím not defending any of these accusations by posting them. True or not, theyíre a PR nightmare, and thatís the venue in which most of these will be dealt with.

8. It's a problem to believe it's true, only if you don't acknowledge

the very real obstacles to a 17 year old, even today, let alone decades ago, to accuse a powerful successful man of that kind of behavior.

What nefarious purpose does a woman lying about this serve?

Please let me know your thoughts.

11. You are asking me why people lie sometimes?

How am I supposed to know? No more than you would know. I see no reason for someone to lie about things like this.

I do know this...people it seems even more so these days in social media seem apt to want the limelight for whatever reason.

This is certainly not to say it didn't happen. But we are all so quick to judge without really knowing anything about the situation or if it even happened.

13. You are accusing me of saying that they never do?

"I do know this...people it seems even more so these days in social media seem apt to want the limelight for whatever reason. "

These women aren't making this claim in social media are they? So what does this have to do with the topic?

"But we are all so quick to judge without really knowing anything about the situation or if it even happened."

See your post that began with, "The problem is...." for an example of being "quick to judge."

20. You have no idea what these people are doing

You are defending things that you have no clue as to what you are even defending. Someone makes a claim about sexual harassment from a celebrity years ago and we are supposed to take it at face value that it is 100% true?

Let's cut the crap. Yes it might be true. It might not be true. To defend someone you don't know in a situation that you weren't there you can't say any more than I can say that it is true or not.

21. And you are damning things that you have no clue as to what you are even damning.

Someone makes a claim about sexual harassment from a celebrity years ago and we are supposed to take it at face value that it is 100% publicity seeking?

Let's cut the crap. Yes they might be seeking publicity. They might not. To label someone you don't know in a situation that you weren't there you can't say any more than I can say that it is publicity seeking or not.

22. Well you have clearly not read my posts

I said it may be true, it may not be true. My math says 50-50. We DON'T KNOW. You are arguing just to argue at this point. Let's move on.

9. Heres whats going to happen

It is a frenzy of people coming out of the woodwork. All seem like legitimate issues. But at some point one of these people will come forward and lie about a celebrity and they will be sued into oblivion. It will happen. Our society is full of people who want to be famous. The fact that many of these accusations are fully accepted at face value with little attempt at independent verification virtually guarantees it.

10. So what do you propose to do about those theoretical "fame seekers?"

And what is to prevent someone using the threat of lawsuit (like Cosby did) to silence somone they abused?

That seems far more likely to me. That threat of financial ruin has been used way more on the abused then by them.

I certainly hope that you have learned that.

16. Yeah. Kids who are abused just need to report it right away, or suck it up forever.

18. Obviously, this type of behavior is endemic in Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment

industry and probably has been since the days of silent films. That being said , Dustin Hoffman wouldn't have been my pick. You never really know. I just hope it stops.
