Sessions threatened to quit if Trump deported Chinese dissident: report

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 10/26/17 09:40 AM EDT

Attorney General Jeff Sessions reportedly threatened to quit if the Trump administration deported a dissident businessman to China.

Sessions said he would quit if the administration sent back Chinese businessman Guo Wengui, according to the Washington Times.

Sessions reportedly made the threat during a meeting in the spring when talking to administration officials. Guo is wanted in Beijing on corruption charges. Guo has been a frequent and vocal critic of the Chinese government and applied for asylum in the U.S. in September.

In January, he started posting about corruption among Chinese leaders on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
