If I were the President, and had to fend off this attack, It would sound something like this...
I have no more animosity toward Mitt Romney for being insanely rich than I would toward a rattlesnake for having poison in its teeth. But the thing that Romney would have you believe, that I disagree with, is this: that the enlightened acceptance of the nature of snakes is an acceptable justification for putting that rattlesnake in a baby's crib; and it's not. Hating a snake FOR BEING a snake is unenlightened and in some sense, seems a bit prejudicial. But that doesn't mean you do something profoundly stupid with the snake in question.
It's simple and concise, and it would let Obama tap a lot of populist emotion in BOTH parties, while still being able to counter the argument that we all just hate success and the occasional great wealth that comes with it.
Thoughts on this thought?

(20,833 posts)Obama asking rich to pay a modest (but low relative to much of US history) tax increase is equal to hating success and placing shame on the rich. Obama pointing out the great USA that each of these idiots won't leave the house without a flag pin of, helps create the environment that helps Americans become successful. What sounds to this ordinary American as a U S A exceptionalism chant by Obama, to Romney sounds like Obama hates successful people. At this point you can safely assume the fault lies with Mitt Romney and not Obama. He's the one feeling the shame, not ordinary Americans. Makes you think he did something to feel guilty about?
