Trump family breaks with presidential pet tradition

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/21/politics/donald-trump-presidential-pet/index.html

Washington (CNN)He campaigned and won vowing to shake up Washington. Now, President Donald Trump is again breaking with tradition on a more personal matter: keeping a pet at the White House.

The illustrious tradition of keeping pets in the White House dates back to Thomas Jefferson, who kept a mockingbird and a couple of bear cubs during his presidency. Throughout the years, presidential pets became celebrities of sorts.

Trump lived with a poodle, Chappy, with his first wife, Ivana, who wrote in her memoir, "Raising Trump," that "Donald was not a dog fan."
"When I told him I was bringing Chappy with me to New York, he said, 'No,' " she wrote. "'It's me and Chappy or no one!' I insisted, and that was that."
Chappy, she later said, "had an equal dislike of Donald."

I love these presidential pet stories. My favorite is Ike's dog, Heidi--a Weimaraner.

It is not surprising that Donald is not a dog fan.

It was the idea of some famous portrait photographer/Time contributer for a cover story they were doing in '05 after he established himself as a real contender for the nomination.

The Eagle's name is Uncle Sam, an obviously intellegent and patriotic bird.

He belongs to the billionaires who bought him.

He's not a good pet. He bites, he poops everywhere, and he struts around like he owns the place.

We mustn't forget it's OUR house.

Trump and his owners are very bad tenants. We need to get them out of there.

at some point I have found out that person had a major flaw in their character that they masked. The first instance was when I was young and was babysitting for an infant. Jinx, my dog, got between the baby and our insurance man and growled and would not let the man near the baby. It was so unlike Jinx. A couple months later the insurance man was arrested and charged with child molestation. And so it has been with other dogs during my life. It does not surprise me at all that the poodle did not like Donald.

That poor kid will probably never know the joys of having a pet. I wish his mother would get him out of that environment. I'd hate to see him turning into an asshole like his half-sister and half-brothers.

who hoped the human race would be nuked out of existence (so noble animals could live free of them). And I believed they were sincere, but I never worried about the pets living with those people who were devoid of compassion for other people.

We once had neighbors who loved their horses but neglected her elderly mother shockingly, too busy grooming, mowing, etc., to drop by and visit and make sure she was doing okay. Ultimately we were too disgusted to maintain the relationship and broke it.

Dog lovers have been known to order their beloved pets to attack people (all too often), and serial killers have been known to weep over injured kittens.

We're not that simple. Except for Trump. How to imagine he's capable of caring enough about anything but himself to put up with shedding. Including Ivanka if she didn't keep herself tidy.

of this video.

I did not vote for him, but it's quite the contrast in that Republican president and this one. He's practically melting over the pups, much more so than Barbara. He insists on close up shots of the puppies from journalists, etc. and sticks his face on one puppy's head at the end. Watch!

Assuming they have 2 or 3 hours a day to dedicate to playing, along with plenty of outdoor space for them to run in while the family is away.
