Hearing Protection Act of 2017

This is the name of the bill to legalize silencers. I'm not joking..not the Onion or Borowitz. I would link, but I'm on my phone.

1. So special earmuffs and earbuds dont work anymore?

According to what I’m reading, silencers “don’t work anyway” or at least “not how they do in-the movies”

I’m confused, because if I’m going to use a loud weapon, I would be one of those “responsible” types and buy some goddamn earmuffs for hearing protection

13. They reduce the sound from painful/dangerous to merely loud.

Rock concert loud, still, but not jackhammer loud. (160db down to 130-140db, depending on caliber).

2. Silencers are already legal

There's close to 1.3 million registered silencers owned by civilians in the country today. A number that is growing by about 100k every year.

12. That's far less than the number of guns out there.

because of the red tape involved in buying them, and they're illegal in several states.

4. Well now, we wouldn't want children to be afraid of the noise

while they're being murdered. Despite the feeble attempt sarcasm, I find this horrifying. I just don't know what to say or do anymore.

5. Gun fanciers' hearing is more important than society. They could find another "hobby."

10. Yes, silencers are legal in most states, not all, but there's a lot of red tape involved

This bill would make them as easy to get as guns.

It's being sold as "safety protection" for shooters, because, what, they're too fucking lazy to put on ear protectors?

14. There actually isn't much red tape involved.

Looking at the procedures, it doesn't look much more difficult then how it used to be here in Michigan to get a concealed pistol license until the state became "shall issue".

Yes, the bill would make buying a suppressor as easy as buying a gun and would eliminate the $200 tax stamp.

16. Repukes just want to make your dying a better experience

by not making the sound of a gun the last thing you hear.

18. I get your point...

...but technically speaking, the bullet is long gone by the time the sound is heard.
