Donald Trump is no longer the president of the United States: Robert Reich

Announcement: Donald Trump is no longer the president of the United States

Oh sure, he has the title and he has the bully pulpit – from which he’s bullying everyone from NBA players to people protesting white supremacists to DACA kids.

But he’s not actively governing the United States. That work is happening elsewhere – in Congress, the courts, the Fed, the career civil service, lobbyists, and in the states. Or it’s not happening at all.

snip//

Trump’s political clout is waning among Republicans. He couldn’t even get his pick elected to a Senate primary in Alabama, a state bulging with Trump voters.

Business leaders have deserted him over his remarks over Charlottesville. NFL owners have turned on him over his remarks about players. Tom Brady, who once called Trump “a good friend,” now calls him “divisive” and “wrong.”

Don’t get me wrong. Trump is still a dangerous showman and conman – tweeting condemnations of critics and ranting before friendly crowds at his never-ending campaign rallies. He continues to fuel bigotry and meanness. He has reduced America’s standing in the world. His outbursts could start a nuclear war.

But when it comes to the actual work of governing America, Trump is becoming utterly and completely irrelevant.

And to think that we once had him in a serious Cabinet position - and we could proudly say that - and he wasn't fired - nor under any indictment or investigation!!!!

Ah, the good ole' days!!

He is smart, experienced and accurate. He also can speak freely without fearing repercussions from the GOP.

45 will become a figurehead and a puppet of the GOP as he becomes more and more crazy and they will keep him in power to pursue their corrupt, dangerous agenda intact. Our country is doomed.

From the moment he was "elected" he was irrelevant, and it continues to be so...

The danger is those behind the curtains who continue to use the decoy to work their agenda through, the decoy's job is to keep everyone in the country on edge, to tweet stupidity after stupidity, that is his only relevance, and the day that he is of no use to them, which will be very soon, they will throw him under the bus like they do to everyone else whose usefulness has reached its end.

So our earliest hope is 2018. We need to flip the house and senate. The best thing the Democrats can do is to hang this rotting albatross of a president around the neck of the republican leadership and make them wear it. They're becoming increasingly unpopular with their base, we need to make them increasingly unpopular with the moderate rubes that vote republican.

and every action would never have happened withouta fraudulent election, yet these people are running some of those courts, and every Cabinet member is running his department like a fiefdom - for his own benefit and the benefit of past, current, and future benefactors. They'll all have private sector job offers if they ever leave office. It's not just private travel at public expense. Interior, EPA, HHS, look at the bent rules and rollbacks of decades of carefully considered policy.

While I'd like to believe that the Mangled-Apricot Hell-Beast has become "utterly and completely irrelevant," Drumpf still occupies the Oval Office.

Until and unless the Cabinet invokes the 25th Amendment, or Congress decides to impeach his sorry ass, this pattern of irresponsible behavior will continue. To what end? Does not the suffering of millions of American citizens in the Caribbean register on his conscience (oh, right, what was I thinking?) or that of the nation? (Again, what was I thinking?)

As I have posted elsewhere here: 25th Amendment. Now.

After a soft-coup a couple of weeks back, I'm fairly certain The Koch's (et al) hold the reins surrogated mainly through Pence.

The only reason the Trumpadope is still in office is that he's still useful as a diversion. When that ends, so will his Presidency.
